This film is about a world of robots created for a place where people can join in the fun of being whatever they want to be. Eg:- cowboys, King Henry VIII etc.

I saw this film as a young child and have to admit it gave me the creeps.

Yul Brynner was brilliant as the robot who would not die. You had to feel sorry for the person who was on the receiving end of his wrath.

I saw it again not so long ago. The hairs on the back of my neck still stood on end coming towards the end of the film. So I believe it has stood the test of time.

Where nothing can possibly go worngg...

Westworld (1973) 89 Minutes.

Written and Directed by Michael Crichton.

In a holiday amusement park of the future, which recreates periods of the past, a wild-western badman robot (Yul Brynner) goes berserk and runs amok through the different zones of the park, whilst relentlessly attacking two visitors (Richard Benjamin and James Brolin). Unusual and amusing, a sort of early 'Jurassic Park'. The gunslinger has also been compared to an early 'Terminator'. Some memorable moments and an exciting pace.

There had to be a sequel too far, of course: Futureworld (1976)

Can't remember 'Futureworld'. I'm sure it wasn't as good as Westworld.

I'm glad I didn't watch it then.

The thing that bugged me then—despite my age—and really bugs me now is the rigid-bodied robots with common electronic components immediately beneath the surface somehow passing as real humans. (Except for the baggy knuckles.) The snake was the worst.

The first movie or TV robot to dump this meme was Ash in Alien. He may have had "common" electronics in his head or chest or wherever his CPU was located, but at least his body was soft hydraulics and other fluids so he'd feel human when someone touched him. Besides, the white body fluid also made a more satisfyingly "gorey" scene when the crew kicked the stuffing out of him.
