I've only seen the dubbed version, but even so it was excellent. Great story, but what struck me about it was the tiny details in the characterisation; a lot of effort went into it.

The ending is a bit dubious, but only a bit, and eminently forgiveable given the preceding two hours or so.

go watch it.

Well I expect it too be good...As its a Myzaki film(I know thats spelt wrong!) and animated by Studio Ghilbi!!I mean...I loved both Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service...and have heard NOTHING but good things about other Studio Ghilbi movies...

I hope you're not getting it just cos it's a Myazaki movie; it isn't. However, while it's wasn't a Ghibli movie, Gainax did have a hand in it. Gainax, to my mind, are up there with the best; Gunbusters is probably my favourite of their output.

One of the animation directors was Hideake Anno (which I've probably spelt wrong); you might remember him from such films as Evangelion and Gunbuster (from Gainax) and Nausicaa (from Gibli).
