I know this is kind of a yeah right in your dreams kinda question, but..... Does anyone out there have any info as to what one might do if they were interested in bieng cast as an extra? Does the set use a particular casting agency, or some other means? Even if I'm one of a hundred refugees on some planet it would still be an experience!

Also on a side note does anyone know where the cast wardrobe comes from? I would be interested in obtaining some of the SG1 combat clothing, and accessories. Surley this stuff isn't handsown it must come from somewhere, hopefully somewhere that you can buy from!

Any info would be much appreciated!

the uniform the show uses is actual military uniform! so if u awnt to get hold of it...join the army!!
but...i would love to be an extra on the show:D but i have no idea how:(

Actually there are some differances from straight military BDU's, I know because I have several sets. For instance they seem to have some kind of shoulder straps on the uniforms. Also I am unable to find those zipper down lined field jackets that they use. And RDA's hat is definatley NOT GI issue, but man it looks cool the way he wears it with the rest of the getup. I really want one of those hats! Some of the components are genuine issue, but then again most of it isn't. At least not U.S. I would just like to get my hands on some of the stuff because some of my buddies, and I enjoy playing airsoft (realistic military skirmishes with "safe" plastic bb's in realistic looking guns) Since I've already got an HK SG1 sniper rifle (yes they do actually make a weapon called an SG1, and no I don't know why it's never been seen in the show) I just thought it would be cool to take it all the way, with identical uniforms, and patches, and whatnot.

u have skirmishes with your m8's using bb guns?
OUCH!!!! they hurt a lot, i shot myself in the foot once while i was wearing socks and shoes and it still hurt like hell!! doesnt it get kinda dangerous

and the HK SG-1, i've never heard of that gun, the only sniper rifle i've heard of with sg-1 in it is the HK PSG-1

have you tried army surplus stores for the bdu's?
they should have something.

and it's likely their uniforms aren't totally regulation, i mean in baywatch their swimsuits are tailored and on third watch and other fire fighter shows the actors wear similar clothing but for example the heavy lining is taken out of the coats to make them less bulky.

it wouldn't surprise me if their bdu's are tailored. i remember thinking in the devil you know that sam's t-shirt really fit her...not in the loose way a t-shirt tends to do.

as for their civilian clothes, they have a wardrobe person who will go shopping to buy clothes for them(unless they want to wear their own i heard in window of opp. that rda's get up was his own a friend of his was trying to launch a line of clothing so rda wore an outfit on the air to help him)

I bought the magazine called TV Zone a few months back and it had a big artical on one of the ladies called Christina McQuarrie who is one of the costume designers for Stargate SG1.
She says that the uniforms that SG1 wears are made from scratch and are modified versions of real air force uniforms.
She also said that she does not like it when actors do use their own clothing.
But she does let them have some say in what they want to wear when they are shooting scenes and Sg1 wear sivvies.
Quote "I know that Richard Dean Anderson has a strong sense of what he likes and thats prety much what he will wear"
It does not tell us though where you could buy and of this stuff from.

Hope that has answered some of your questions

Don't quote me on it, but I think ... Jad, or Jaxie, or *someone* beginning with a 'j' at one point in the last year was an extra on something, but I really don't know exactly who.

The type of info I was really looking for is where I could go to either try out, or sign up for an extra position. I'm sure there are casting agencies that they must use to fill thier ranks when required.

cant help ya there, but if u ever find anything, let me know
wait a minute...sg-1 is filmed in canada isnt it? and i live in England, that doesnt quite work out does it?! Damn it!!

Well, don't give up: part of 'The Mummy Returns' was filmed in London... :rolly2:

There's a guild (union) for extras, called, the Screen Extra's Guild (imaginative name). You don't have to be in the guild to be an extra, but you get a lot more jobs and more money. I'm not sure about how SEG works in Canada, but you could contact the US branch and ask 'em.

i live no where near the US, in fact i live on the other side of the pond in England
is there any chance of me still gettin in?:D

Hmm, I gotta think then your chances of being an extra on Stargate are a bit...... slim.

That'd be a nasty commute to work each day.
