not much is known about this one except that it'll likely be sept or later when it airs, it's been moved back in the schedule

i like the name - it's really stargatie.

TOMB - my guess is it has sumthing to do with Egypt (but that is just a guess)

Another season 5 goody.
The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!
Didn't anyone else catch Jack's Murdoc line?

huh?

so wot happened? anyone wanna give me a nice longggg synopsis?

luv ya

The Russians are coming! This episode definetly had lots of tension in it. Jack wasn't happy at all when he heard the Russians where coming. Then there was the tension between him and the russian colonel. Some very good scenes arguing about the chain of command.

I found it interesting that Jack complained about the Russians secret orders. If their positions had been reveresed he would have done the same thing. When he told Carter he would be a minute I wonder if he checked Zhurkov to see if he was alive and if he looked for that talisman. It would be interesting if he did get it because then they would be just like the Russians by not giving it to them.

Of course it was predictable in that you knew that any deaths would be the Russians. After all you can't kill off any of SG1. And it left open an interesting possibility of maybe seeing more of the Russians in the future.

they're on p2x338 trying to get into a ziggaurat (waiting for the cigarette/zigaurat jokes) it's really old and covered iwth babylonian writing...they doscover someone has been here...and they left behind a empty russian cigarette box. (wonder what the penalty of intergalactic littering is)
break for credits
back to the sgc, hammy tells them that there has been a covert russian team that went thourgh before the water planet shut down the russian gate. it was led by maj valentime karinsky and its lead archeaologist was alexander ritzsky(one of the pics was also PdL...cameo time again)
so there is going to be a russian/sgc joint mission..and jack's about as thrilled as if he were told the tokra were going to move in.
daniel's lab
sam & jack walk in agruing, she's all for sharing, he's not (methinks jack's had a very, very bad russian experinece, he seems to hate them just a little more than he does the goauld)
danny says he can get into the zigg...then the phone rings and it's time for danny's first & second great line 'the russians are coming'and 'actually in russian they'd be watching your zhist (six)

break to the briefing room. four russian soldiers, 3 guys one girl (curious how that works huh?)
they all introduce themselves, jack is still his normal, man i hate you guys, self.
little posturing, they're all going.

to the gateroom
the two colonels, jack and col. zukov are walking down the hall comparing weapons (we all know what this is a metaphor for don't we ;) )
they enter the gateroom jsut as it opens. jack sends sg-1 through, zukov sends his team...the two guys do some more testosterone posturing...this sets up that jack is in command...but zukov trusts him about as much as jack trusts him.

sitting outside the temple...danny is translating, everyone is bored. it's been over an hour. jack threathens to blow it...danny gets it and opens the door.

they go inside. rocks are falling from the ceiling. it is more than a little unstable...it is over 4000 years old...and it is a good plot device for later

they split up, teal'c going wth the russians and one of them going with sg-1, all in the spirit of cooperaion of course ;)

they find a skeleton...with all its flesh stripped off by tiny little teeth...ewwe.

meanwhile zukov finds a sarc...jack tells him not to mess iwth it, zukov of course doesn't listen...he sets off a booby trap that causes the nice entrance door to close, conveninetly squishing one of the russians. oops, hate when that happens

back to the sarc room,
more 'why didnt' you just listen' agruing, danny figures out that it's marduke who's in the sarc. a babylonian baddie who was so bad his own priests locked him in a sarc with a creature that ate him alive as the sarc fixed him..likely for years...YUCK. definitely a bad way to go

they open the sarc and find marduke's skeleton...but no creature. mmm, wonder what's running around the temple?

so in the vein of every monster movie, they split up to search for the last 3 missing russians and more importantly a way out.

teal'c and zukov find ritzsky;s corpse, and his diary which tells the whole sad tale. meanwhile sam and the lady russian, tolienya find the monster which of course attacks them, wounding the russian with some kind of venom.

they retreat back to the sarc room where htey left daniel to translate.

the russian chick is dying, they suggest blowing a hole in the wall...but as unstable as the temple is, it'd likely bring th whole thing down (that's where the plot device comes in)

back to monster hunting cause when sam was attacked she sensed a presence...oops looks like the goauld is in the monster.

more skulkign in halls. sam & teal'c find the creature, it's dead. she shot it before. but it's also snakeless which means one of the humans has it.
of course jack and zukov are together....they immediately pull a russian stand off...good for the drama but wonder how long they were gonna stand there.
meanwhile danny and maj volarin are in the sarc room with the russain chick, volarin hear something and goes off...leading to danny's great line. 'yes you go down the dark hall alone and i'll stay in the dark room alone.'

three guesses who gets the snake?

volarin comes across zukov and jack...still standing htere pointing guns at each other. volarin is marduke and he blasts jack with a ribbon device he oh so conveniently had stashed.

he wants the eye of tierna back, it is the artifact the original mission was looking for adn ritzsky found. so zukov found it on ritzsky's body, and of course was going to keep it a secret
zukov takes marduke out with a grenade, bringing part of hte house down....

meanwhile sam & tealc have reunited iwth danny...and they'discovered that there are rings in the sarc room...goody a way out.
jack shows up, the sam goauld detector shows no snakely presence so they set to leave...but of course first they gotta set like 20 pounds of explosives...which is a good thing cuase marduke survived the roof falling on him and comes after them...i love thelook on sam's face as she pressed the button...marduke is toast just as they ring to safety.

back to the sgc
lt. tolienya is recovered adn collaborates jack's story...butthe russians are still ticked off that sg-1 survived adn their people didn't....we have not seen the last of the russains....any one wanna bet the new character we're supposed to get later this season is going to be a russian???

and on to the nitpicks:

1) it's 130 in the shade and noone's sweating? i mean i know the temple had
to have thick walls but there was no air circulation and they had to be
hot...not a drop of sweat (when i read amibient temp 142 on the showtime
site i thought it was a typo)

2) along that same vein...sam says they have 5 days of water...now i'm not
sure how much you need in the desert (lots if i recall correctly from desert
storm) but lets say 1 liter a day (though i think it should be more, it is
130ish after all...ok, maybe 80 in the temple but it's still hot) anyway
seven of them using 1 liter a day for 5 days is 35 liters of water....who
was carrying that much around? i didn't see it

3) sensing the gaould...if teal'c can sense goauld, why didn't he know sam
had jolinar in her two years ago? he was right beside her when they came
back...

4)the russians said 'we took the precaution of eating before we came'...well
wonder if they ate rations on the plane cause it's like what 18 hour flight?

5) when zukov blew valarin up with the grenade...isn't it a bloody miracle
that jack didnt' get hurt in any way...i mean being too close to a grenede
(and he looked to be a few feet away) is usually rather bad for your health

6)there is a nice loophole in teal'c not getting infested. as long as he
carries junior he can't get snaked...so if he or someone takes junior
out...he's just as vulnerable as the rest of them

7)when sam was treating tolienya(the russian chick) why wasn't she using
gloves? i mean i thought rubber gloves are standard in first aid kits...she
used them to gather the sample in one false step...

8) marduke has been marooned for 2000-4000 years...and he has the nifty
shield that was so new in the nox that teal'c didn't know about it.

and just a couple of notes....the actress who played the surviving russian,
her name was jennifer halley....OMG the cadet is back....<G>

hammy says the russians 'might be useful to have around'...yeah as red
shirts to die leaving sg-1 all nice and alive <G>

a love how the debris seemed to fall on the edges of the passageways, there
are a couple of shots where it looks likd someone oh so nicely cleared the
path so our heroes wouldnt' trip....

danny had the best lines of the week....and he's so good at them. sarcastic
daniel is really, really growing on me.

Sounds like a cool episode. What we have come to expect from season 5.
Just downloading the episode now can't wait.:rolly2:

just downloaded the ep and it is great. some great lines (jack's: "and ma'am. there's a ma'am as well") some great scenes and me thinks we could be seeing more of the russians.

i agree with you there teal'c.
there is a rumor of another character being added later this year...my current favorite the lt....whatever. the chick that survived.
she could be a good squeeze for danny

:D

Just watched the ep. Oh how cool can this season get.

Action and comedy all rolled in to one once again this is great :rolly2:

I loved the scene when they are in Danny's lab that had me rolling on the floor (well nearly)

The bit with Teal'c being able to sense a Gould has me asking a few questions though:rolleyes:

In in all it was a top episode.

Oh another good part was when Sam and Teal'c got back to Daniel.
"Hi guys just getting the traslation on this WALLLLL" Funny.
(think it went like that)
But his reaction was priceless

Love the episode. Jack issue with the russians was really cool. I enjoy him in this episode. The scenes when they don't know who was the goauld were really great. Specially Jack and the russian colonel. Also the reaction of Daniel when Carter and Teal'c comes pointing the weapons at him. It would be great to see more of the russians.

Krystal :D

do you mean the name is the same? not the same actress right?

liked the epi, good mix of action and interaction. liked the intro of other ancient cultures beside egypt. a little confused about teal'c new goa'uld sensing abilities. i didn't think he could do that-just sam. otherwise, liked it:rolly2:

Another good one

Oh how cool can this season get.

I can't WAIT to find out!!!!!

I really think that Peter de Luise (sp?) as a director for the show can do no wrong. If he does I will quickly forgive him. I liked the camera angles, especially the one CJ or someone had mounted to their shoulder they ran from the sarcophagus chamber. There was a certain amount of mystery in the episode that was played out rather well, too. Last week they made me think, this week they scared me.

Honestly, if I was a Showtime executive watching this season, I would kick the person(s) who made the decision to let SG-SG1 go...then buy stock in the Sci-Fi Channel.

big thank you to skydiver for your synopsis - i luv ya buddy.

sounds like a kool eppie. and like every other eppie i know i'll luv it no matter how bad anyone thinks that it is.

ciao for now

Just to comment on Tealc's goauld sensing ability. This isn't the first time we have seen it. There has been a couple earlier episodes in which it was mentioned along with Sam being able to sense a goauld. Tealc can sense it because of Junior. Sam can sense it because she had Jolinar in her. It isn't a new ability they just introduced.

Great episode. It was fantastic. It had everything.

It was good to see Sam and Teal'c working together alot more which is something I hope we see alot more of this season.

I loved it when Danny was translating the wall and everyone was waiting around bored. Jack was nagging Danny and Danny says something like "Well, would you like to give it a try?" and Jack says "Carter, break out the C4".

Danny was funny too. "Okay, you go down that dark hallway all alone and I'll...stay in this dark chamber all alone" (something like that, but it was funny).

Anyone else notice how Martin Wood and PDL have been taking turns at directing. It's been the two of them alternating since Enemies. It's great though because they are the two BEST directors. :D

Love this episode! The interaction between Jack and the Russian Colonel was great. Only quibble I have (very minor) is that Jack didn't even get a scratch when the grenade exploded. The Russian Colonel died and the Goau'ld was wounded and buried and Jack on such close quarters came out like nothing had happened? No way. Three Russians died and nothing, nothing, happened to the American team? But apart from that I love it. It had me in tension all the while.

I loved when Sam debated with Jack sort of defending the Russians. Hey, that's the old Sam I used to love, speaking her own mind. And the points she was raising were all valid. The USA has taken the position of standing up for all of Earth.

I would also had like for Daniel to "speak" some Russian with the Russian team.

I mostly really enjoyed this one, until the ending which I thought was a bit pat.

Am I wrong, or did I spot PdL as one of the photos of the missing Russian team? Skydiver, you're always great at spotting him..........

PdL's direction was really good. I especially liked the scene where he had Jack and Zukhov arguing in silhouette , that was very ominous and cool.

The way Marduk died, being eaten alive while the sarc kept trying to sustain him. Yuck. I gotta agree with Jack, that is officially the worst way to go.

This really had an "Alien" feel to it, trapped with a stalking critter.

Tatter, yeah, it wasn't the same actress, it was just that the actresses real name was so close to Cadet Haley's in Prodigy. And she looked a bit like her, too, just with dark hair.

Poor Teal'c had little to do this episode, again. He didn't even have a single line until about 15 minutes into the episode, and even then his lines were mostly "Indeed".

One very cool little detail. On the Russian's arm patches was "3B1". The Russian word for 'star' begins with a letter that resembles "3", the word for gate with "B", so the Russian team was their equivilant to SG1.

Good points, skydiver, about the problems. Another one: that sure was an unreasonable amount of C4 and Russian explosive that they had - there wouldn't have been any room in their backpacks for all that water we didn't see, either!

And I noticed that the first glimpse we have of the critter looked nothing like the critter we saw at the end. In the beginning it had hairy, angular legs like a giant spider (yeech), yet the dead creature looked like a cross between a squid and a rubber chicken!!
