Details about Mitch
If anyones interested and hasn't got the x-files books, heres a few details about Mitch Pileggi.
Mitch grew up abroad and worked for Defense Department related companies throughout the Middle East before launching his acting career at the age of 27.
He based the character of Skinner on his dad, who unfortunately passed away not long after the shows premiere.
Pileggi was born on April 5th in Portland, Oregon. He's 6ft 2".
He has travelled to Turkey and stayed there for most of his youth and attended College in Germany.
He has landed roles in Dallas, The A-Team, Hooperman, 3 o'clock High(film) and Return of The Living Dead(film). He also starred in Shocker(Wes Craven film) to play the role of killer Horace Pinker.
He auditioned for the role of Skinner 2 or 3 times unsuccessfully before he was cast as Skinner. He went to the audition in a strop and Chris Carter thought he was acting, who then said it suited the character of Skinner.
Pileggi received letters from Vietnam veterans in relation to the story "One Breath". In which Skinner talks about his duty in Vietnam. He found this immensely satisfying.
In the first book it says that Pileggi has a long-term contract with the series, which we can see 8 years down the line he's still in it.
