ha! Buffy Dead?? uuhh, ummmm, okay i'm kinda speechless! You think she's gonna stay dead this time around??

But back to the point the message on her gravestone

She saved the World
A lot

Those that seem a little funny to anyone else?? And i know the series likes jokes (hence ALL the fave quotes) but is it fair to make fun of her like that.......after she dies??

Or is this whole thing in my imagination??

I kinda thought that it was a little bit funny as well.
Like you I know that they like to lighten the mood but not at that moment when she had died and all.
Bad Buffy writers!
:dead:

it did seem a bit sarcastic for a grave stone didn't it... I'm sure all will become clear in S6...

robot buffy, that was a good one, would have never guessed!:D As for the rest of The Gift, all I can say is that I was :crying: :crying: :crying:

i thought there had to be some reason when they found the robot in the basement, nice to see her back in action :D

I though it was a good epsiode..lots of action, from the vamp at the beginning to the big fight sequence at the end... and still some funny moments thrown in..like when Spike comments on how Buffy said she loves them all... :D

yeah, i liked the ep too! and maybe we will understand the sarcasm of her gravestone in series 6.

Sarcastic???? What show were you watching?

I don't know where you guys are coming from.

She saved the world.

Undeniably a tribute. A statement of fact that her friends were proud to proclaim even if it was post-humorously. Slayers don't get medals so how else to recognize her?

A lot.

Also a fact. By Giles count at least six times. It was her duty, her calling and she fulfilled it to the end. Placing it on a separate line adds emphasis and informs the reader that this was no accidental, one-time hero, she lead a heroic life and the headstone is a testament to her life.

It never occurred to anyone I know that it wasn't a serious declaration of her valor.

The robot thing was pretty obvious, As soon as Willow said that it could be fixed at the end of "I Was Made to Love You", you knew it would be.

i guess that's one (very sweet) way of looking at it. But you just don't expect to see that. For one thing Buffy's work is supposed to be secret, you can't declare it for the whole world to see on a gravestone.

BTW: Welcome Obcooke, glad you found us and hope you have fun posting! :D

Why not? Is there any reason to keep it a secret after she's dead? Besides it doesn't give any details. It doesn't even say that she was a Slayer.

Most people seeing that in a graveyard might think that it's a unique epithet, but they probably wouldn't spend a lot of time pondering it.

What about Buffy's Class Protector award at the Prom? Wouldn't that be a much bigger risk to her "secret identity"?

I don't buy the whole secret thing anyway. Maybe at first it was a secret but after five years in Sunnydale, it seems that only the civilians and the police were unaware that she was at least a hero. As Principal Snyder once said, "In case you haven't noticed, the police of Sunnydale are deeply stupid."

Remember in the beginning of the last episode, Buffy is actually surprised to meet a vampire who doesn't know who she is.

After her death there was no reason or motivation to hide her sacrifice. At least none that I can think of.

Thanks. If you get a chance check out my Buffy episode summaries at the link below, I pretty proud of them. They are very detailed.

I've found the opposite, everyone i know agreed with me that it was a laugh-out-loud funny thing to put on the grave...

and oh yeah.. welcome obcooke :) Nice to see youre finding your way around the place, and posting lots of interesting comments! I had a quick look at your site earlier, the ep guides are very good, and very detailed...one to bookmark folks :D

I have to agree with Obcooke on this one, I thought it was a serious declaration of what she had done. I mean, wouldn't you like to have that kind of a reputation when you died?

Vampyre.

well I guess it's just our English sense of humour reading sarcasm into it where we shouldnt ;)

It is a nice epitaph, just the wording of it seems strange to me...

My first post

Anyway, I thought it was very strange and would have been better if it was just "She saved the world"

Sean
