Has anyone who has purchased the Region 1 box set have any problems with the sound. On the episode "The Nox" I could not hear Apophis speak at all. This happen with ever scene he was in. If you turn up volume all the way up you can hear his voice.

Plus, in the Episode "Brief Candle" When Daniel, Carter, and Teal'c make a video and send it thru the gate to Jack you can not hear what they are saying.

Has anyone had this problem.:(

Hex_20,
Have you told the people you bought the dvd from about the problem? I think they would like to know so they don't get complaints from unsatisified customers. When write or e-mail them and ask for a reply. And keep on it... Good luck!

I've had the same problem. I won't buy the other seasons until I know they've resolved the problem and replaced the first with remastered DVDs AND pay for the shipping.

:( Me too Ive just recived my box set today and having just read your post I raced to check the episodes and yes mine is the same as you described :( dam dam dam that I supose means Ill have to return the lot and wait till this problem is sorted ,tut tut tut

Sound Problem Not A Problem

This post will be put all threads I find about the sound problem.

**

I've seen a number of posts talking about the problems with Apophis' voice in "The Nox" and other voices in other episodes. While what I'm about to say didn't fix the voice problem in "Borca Divide" it seems to take care of the problem in the others.

Apparently when the DVDs were mixed some voices (Apophis in The Nox) weree mixed to the rear right channel instead of the front right. Using the opticle digital audio link and Dolby 5.1 decoding lets the voices come thru.

Since other's talked about "removing" one of the sound lines, I can only assume that they are running the audio as standard stereo using the RCA jacks and/or their stereo's can't handle decoding the 5.1 in this manner (or still a mastering problem).

Still, I've talked to the manager of a local bookstore and discussed the problem. She said to return them and that she would see to it that every store in their nationwide chain and their warehouse would return all copies they have to MGM. Maybe that will get MGM in gear to resolve their stupidity in mis-mastering the series.
