As a Reetou I have been able to get unobserved access to the planet of the Tau'ri.

I have a cross-phase visual translator, so have been able to watch some entertaining shows about some fictional Stargate device in a place called England. :p

Anyone know if the bulk of Series 1 is going to be coming out on DVD - only episodes 1,9,13,19-21 are currently available.

Also - why are the VHS videos distributed in the wrong order?
:disgust:

P'Teppic,

You could possibly get a better answer by posting this question in some of the other threads of this forum.

There is a Country Chat, and also a Merchendise thread here and you would probably get a better response there.

The country chat is at http://www.ascifi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=17

and the merchendise thread is http://www.ascifi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=4

Don't want to sound like i'm pushing you out of this thread, but I would preferr this section be kept for website chat.

They can be ordered from www.bestbuy.com for $70 US (that's about..um..$300 or something Canadian :) )

The DVD set for the 1st season is all in widescreen format (the box I found). Don't know why. Since they were shot for TV should be full screen. Apparently they (and Sci-Fi channel's last 2 broadcasts of Babylon 5, in widescreen) used a minor distortion affect (anamorphic projection?) to digitally "stretch" the images. In B5 on TV you can tell once in a while. Haven't watched the SG DVDs yet so I don't know about if they've been thrown off much. Still, by adding the "stretch" any images picked up using a video capture system will result in the same distortion.

I think you can also order them from MGM for @ $90. A local book stre or video store should be able to special order them for you if they're not in "normal" distribution there yet. They were released May 22 in US.

Sound Problem Not A Problem

I've seen a number of posts talking about the problems with Apophis' voice in "The Nox" and other voices in other episodes. While what I'm about to say didn't fix the voice problem in "Borca Divide" it seems to take care of the problem in the others.

Apparently when the DVDs were mixed some voices (Apophis in The Nox) weree mixed to the rear right channel instead of the front right. Using the opticle digital audio link and Dolby 5.1 decoding lets the voices come thru.

Since other's talked about "removing" one of the sound lines, I can only assume that they are running the audio as standard stereo using the RCA jacks and/or their stereo's can't handle decoding the 5.1 in this manner (or still a mastering problem).

Hi Koala,

Erm, no one asked about sound...?

The problem in the UK is that Volume 1 DVD contains COTG, and then eps TBFTGOG, P and WTSG from the very end of series 1, and then Volume 2 starts the full run of series 2.

At the end of series 2, on about Volume 8, there are two blank slots, since they get four eps per DVD. So they shoved Hathor and Thors Hammer on as well. They have not done this at the end of series three, despite the two episode spare space, and the lack of e.g. Nox, Tollan, Cassandra from any introductory episodes. And no mention of DVDing the remaining 15 episodes from series 1.
