Should jack really continue in the service of the military?

He has been killed at least once, taken over by an alien intelligence, nanites, the Orbs virus, Machello's virus, Broca regression thing, body-swapped and whatever happens in series 4!

Surely that is enough to pull him off the SGC?

[I suppose most applies to the other members of SG1 too]

I think that Jack likes it really.
I think that he would be bored if he had a "normal job"
He tried to give it up but just had to come back.
Plus he has always done that kind of black ops thing for the air force!!
Thats my view anyway
:rolly2:

Interesting contrast:

he obviously LOVES the work he does, even working with Daniel (who is always get them into things) and Sam (who is just so much cleverer than he is),

but he also seemed to be happy when recalled to SG1 at the start of COTG. But it was hard to tell - he hadn't shot himself, anyway!

I'm with you guys.
I mean, you can understand why someone would quit concidering all the stuff that happens to them!
But that's only the downside! They get to travel through the galaxy, meeting new cultures and seeing/experiencing new things that only a select few on Earth know about.

If it was me, I'd jump at the chance to leap through that wormwhole!:D

Yeah so would I.
I would love to have the chance to visit new worlds and do most of the things that they do.
Notice I did say most....

What? You wouldn't fancy becoming a host?!!
Imagine the conversations you could have with your symbiote (spelling?)!:D

I would only be a host to a tokra if I really had to but that would be kinda cool as then I could hang out with Sam's dad!!

Being a tokra would be funky.

I can just imagine sitting on the metro/train system talking away to my simbiote :D

Being a host would be cool but a few things would put people off, you know the eye glowing thing, and the talking to yourself all the time, people might think you're abit 'mad'.

We'd understand of course, sure we would.

Hmmm. Considering all those people I see on the bus stops and street corners talking to themselves . . . . maybe the Tok'ra are already here, eh?

it's a thought ---

perhaps we should talk to these people?? then again, the Tok'ra won't share w/ us anyway -- so maybe not ---

Hey Shiloh

You know that could be me? Sometimes the only decent conversation I get is with myself.

Of course there are a lot of people who look like they are talking to themselves in their cars now that there are wireless car phones & cell phones & all that stuff. Of course they may be Tok'ra & using the wireless car phone & cell phone & all that stuff as an excuss to why they were talking to themselves. Someone mentioned he was in black ops. He didn't retire the first time because he had had enough. I'd imagine it's quite devistating to lose a child & I know many marriages end because of it. It was Danny Boy who got Jack through in the original movie so perhaps he want's to look after him, knowing how prone to accidents Danny is.

This is very true I can only imagine how bad that could be:(

But its a nice idea that Jack would want to look after Danny:D ;)

Can relate, have lost young family member.

However, it is the nice kind people that get you through so that could be his reasoning for not quitting, maybe?
