The Dark Reetou

Scary. ( LOL )

Haven't seen the epi in over a year, hard to remember. Hmm, maybe that's what I'll watch tonight . . . cool, thanks for the idea, Dan! Maybe I'll have some ideas then. About all I remember is that the rebel Reetou are the bad 'uns.

It'd be cool to see them again in a future episode (I wish).

I loved the idea that the Reetu were out of phase with us! Andthe TER were great! That was a fun episode! I also would like to see more of the Reetu...especially the rebel ones who wanted to get the Tau'ri!

They also remind me of the Shadows from Babylon 5. The idea of an enemy which is both utterly ruthless and totally invisible is very scary.

Watched it again last night, great episode.

Includes series 2 spoiler: Show and Tell

The Reetou are an advanced alien race, capable of trans-phase technology. They themselves look insectoid-ish, a bit like the soldier insects in Starship Troopers, sort of. Their trans-phase technology means that they can become invisible, but still touch things and use weapons in our reality. Trans-phase is based on the vibration of atoms or waves, I think? And by being 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of our physical world, they appear invisible (?).

Unfortunately for us, they have been hammered hard by the Goa'uld, so a small faction have decided to take the long-term approach to wiping out all Goa'uld - by killing ALL possible hosts, including all humans.

you forgot to mention that they have some of the most kick ass weaponry ever seen on SG-1!
An energy-type gun tht blows a hole straight through people (think predator shoulder cannon!) and miniature bombs "each as powerful as a small nuke" as Jacob Carter says.

I just love Reetou trans-phase physics - invisible, but solid. Conveniently getting past all the usual "errors" of invisible foes who just happen to be able to walk on the floor, sit in seats, etc...

I wonder how realistic this is :- we are told that matter DOES resonate at a certain frequency, but still has energy binding the atoms together sufficient to make things solid. Is there any reason that a different frequency or phase would not also provide "solidness"?

BUT, would the different frequency/phase mean that photos would not reflect?
