As a long time lover of Stargate I have just recently found out about this forum. Also because I have loved Stargate I am finally capable of incorperating Stargate with school.

I have a sociology project final that includes an essay. I have to find some sort of visual that challanges the value of a culture. I thought that Stargate could help to show the conflicts of the society of the stargate team and the people of the opposite earth.

Does anyone have an idea for a scene clip that could help? Please.

Thank you,

Sociology of cultures

Great idea and one that sounds like it *should* be easy at first thought, but isn't.

Okay... I don't know if you can do it in one clip, unless they allow you to explain - build up the background before the clip.

The very first thing that comes to mind is the scene in 'Children of the Gods' when Daniel tells the Abydonians that he has to go back through the gate. That they have to close it after him, that nothing good has ever come through it and the young boy steps forward and says 'No. You did Dan-yel.' and Daniel holds him close and realises just how much he's come to mean to these people and they to him.

He touched their entire culture not only with his knowledge, but with his entire self... his heart, his simpley being Daniel.

Don't know if that helps but it's the first thing to minde at 2300 on a Monday night.

First answer that comes to mind... (spoilers for Emancipation)

Isn't the theme of the SG-1 team's culture challenging the other planet's culture the whole point of the Emancipation episode?

You could use two clips... one from the first encounter ("she speaks, she dies") and another from either the knife fight setup scene or from the ending where the cultural revolution gets its first start...

Just my $0.02. Best of luck with your project!
