There is an *official* advertisement (with a form) for *the* Stargate SG-1 Fan Club available on page 15 of The X-Files Magazine (I do not know of any other offers in other magazines). The advertisement asks to copy and mail the 'official form', but I don't see why they wouldn't accept a 'home-made' request. Anyway, here is the info:

INCLUDE THIS PERSONAL INFORMATION:

NAME: , ADDRESS: , CITY: , STATE/PROVINCE: , ZIP/POSTAL CODE: , COUNTRY: , M/F: , BIRTHDATE: ,
E-MAIL: , *TELEPHONE* (ONLY if you pay with a credit card)

MAKE PAYMENT (US$ 19.95) AND MAIL TO:

STARGATE SG-1
OFFICIAL FAN CLUB
P.O. BOX 1691
OAK BROOK, IL 60522

*rates are valid for one year. * Visa and Mastercard accepted.
*Canada & Mexico add US$ 6. ** With card # include expiration date, telephone number and a signature.

*** Membership includes: A NEW RECRUIT KIT: two full-color photos of the SG-1 team, four postcard photos, four data cards with full info., Gatekeepers membership card plus the exclusive Collector's Edition STARGATE SG-1 OFFICIAL MAGAZINE, revealing interviews with cast and crew and behind-the-scenes footage you won't find anywhere else.

P.S. If this magazine is as entertaining as the X-Files, then it will be worth it (just for the subscription alone).

Is it sponsered by Showtime or MGM? Last time I was at the official site it said coming soon for the Fan Club.

Yeah I have been keeping an eye on the MGM site and would like to know when there will be an offical SG1 fan club coz I for one would join!:rolly2:

I'm guessing by the address and the fact you have to pay $20, that it's American based?
I don't know that munch about fanclubs, so are these sort of things universal?
By that, I mean should I beable to join if I live in the UK?

Was there yesterday, and the MGM official SG-1 fan club announcement said, "Coming soon!"

So beofre I sent in my money I would find out if these folks in Illinois are official...inspite of what their name says!

I don't really care about postcards and badges and all that jazz.

I'd like to see more "behind the scene" and actor interviews etc...

If it has lots of that sort of stuff, I'd think about dishing out some money.

I'm with you but be sure that you are not dishing out cash to the wrong people for nothing in return...

but hey nic you try it first and if you get anything back we will all follow (joke) :D ;)

Some one should WRITE to them (not sending money) and ask the questions about connections to MGM and Showtime as well as Gekko.

Sorry for the delay

I have already sent in the money, so I'll let 'everyone' know how it goes. The advertisement said to expect a reply in 4-6 weeks (which is standard). Anyway, come on people! The money is worth the subscription to the magazine at the very least!! By the way, this is the same way in which I joined the Official X-Files Fan Club, and I eagerly await *that* magazine, and the insightful, behind-the-scenes articles and pictures of the stars.

P.S. I believe this also could be some sort of 'Hollywood-producer interest probe' of just how popular the show is, or how big the 'fan-base' is (to borrow from another Hollywood-producer term). *Don't be so skeptical.* The official website is famous for posting new material/information every 6 months anyway (or was it a year ago...). :D :rolly2: :coolorang :coolyello :wink2:

Re: Sorry for the delay

Hi Taurn2,
How good is the x-file mag?
I know this is a little off the stargate topic, but I really like the x-files too.:D

DO NOT SEND MONEY

The fan club posted in the x magazine died before it was born. MGM was in discussion with that organization, but ultimately did not back them. ***Do not send them money***. Ignore the advertisement. Another organization will be running the fun club, but no official word has been made as yet by MGM.

MGM was contacted by Gatecon staff when this magazine advertisement was discovered. MGM went into action, promising to have the PO box looked at, and any posts therein to be returned to the senders.

Hey dkraft, I love your sig!

"Jump up and down, 'cos we're Stargate bound; Keep your head
in the clouds, but your feet on the ground!" Mambo # PRx-911

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Hey nic, yeah I love X-Files too. Although, I guess I'll have to get used to season 9 'sans' Mulder.
Anyway, about the 'moolah', I guess what's done is done (but it's not like I haven't blown $20 bucks on something less important). I guess I'll just have to "cross that bridge when I get to it," although that particular cliche doesn't always work. Heh, heh...

 Oh please. By the time the "Official" fan club comes along, we'll all be older and grayer! Looks like if we want to join a club, it will HAVE to be an unofficial one.
