From Variety Online:
SOUTHBURY, Conn. -- Kate Mulgrew will play the Hartford-born Katharine Hepburn in a new play at the Hartford Stage Co. next season.
Best known for playing Captain Janeway in the television series "Star Trek: Voyager," which ended its run last month after seven seasons, Mulgrew will appear in the world premiere of Connecticut-born playwright Matthew Lombardo's one-woman play "Tea at Five" Feb. 7-March 10.
According to a release, Lombardo's new play will explore the Oscar-winning actress's life "as she reflects on the dizzying heights and emotional lows of her boarding school days, adventures in show business and her heartbreaking romance with Spencer Tracy." The play's director has not been announced.
The Hartford Stage season opens with a revival of "The Philadelphia Story," the 1939 Philip Barry play that revived Hepburn's movie career when she starred in the film version after appearing in it on Broadway.
Hepburn, 91, who is in fragile health, lives at her home in Fenwick, Conn.
