How Do You Watch Stargate?

After a conversation about Stargate with someone, I wanted to know what everyone watches most. You see, when I watch Stargate, I am all encompassing. I watch for military (interesting), science (I get the sci-speak...mostly), anthropology (I like to learn about other cultures), action (who doesn't love the action?), etc.

The person I talked to watched the military aspect the most, specifically weapons (MP HK-5's were the machine gun of choice for seasons 1-3, P-90 for season 4. Handguns were Barettas). So, question is, what do you watch for the most?

How about "All of the Above"

I watch it for the action and adventure, but i learn stuff about science, the military, archeology and heaps of other interesting things.

It's got a good mixture of stuff to keep you entertained.

I have to side with Shelby - I watch it for everything. Not only is it a great show it teaches you science and space stuff and mythology as well. Amazing!

i watch everything - tho, depending on what i'm focusing on at the time - sometimes i miss some of the more subtle and background stuff --

but - i love the show (duh) --

tho -i originally started watching b/c of RDA! then got hooked - dang it - like i needed another show to follow -- but this is a good one!!!!!!

I originally got sucked in by the mix of my two favourite things - ancient history and science fiction (guess that shows I can't cope with the present ).

But then I found RDA to be an extra bonus (I didn't know about him before - I have never seen Macgyver).

Now it has everything :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Well, the first episode I watched was inthe four season, Cross roads I believe it was called. Watched it only becasuse I was sick & there was nothing else on & I was too week to press the power button. However a week later & found the first episode on tape at Walmart for a cheep price & I thought what the H*** & fell in love with it. I first watched it over & over...& over again becasue of the relationship/interaction between Jack & Daniel & the beginging on with Sam & Teal'c. I voted for "all of the above" because I now love all aspects of the show & happen to have an over active and over analysing pesonality. Picky picky picky, but lov'n all of it. Season 5 here we come!

Plus I like the "comedy" element, the way it's written, the direction, and the set designing.

If we want to get into WHY we all started watching it, I'll have to thank big bro, who watched the show for a longer period than I (yet I am MUCH more dedicated than he). one day he came over to our house (me and the parental units... he's just shy of a decade older than me), and put on SG-1. That ep was Small Victories. Been hooked since. What I haven't caught on syndication on FOX has been viewed on the greatest invention since sliced bread: The Stargate SG-1 Archive.

PS: I didn't even know RDA was in the show until I saw him come through the 'Gate in Small Victories. Was impressed they got him, tho. Happy as all heck, too.

well folks... just to be controversial, I voted for "other" because I have just realised that what I really get a kick out of when I watch this show (and some others), is continuity and how the story is developed. it doesn't have quite the same arc format as say, b5, but its development is definitely (infinitely) more interesting than, for example voyager


I like the other stuff too, but then i think that if I hated any of the other stuff I might not watch the show.

I love how we slowly found out about stuff, like how the system lords existed rather than just Ra, how the stargate went quite a few places, then loads of places, then other galaxy(ies?), how most of the cultures have developed from traditions here. what can i say - my degree consisted of two years of physics then three of history so it all gets me.
And the comedy is definitely something different from any other series....

But i also like picking out inconsistencies - not in a nitpicking way, but i kinda get a kick out of it, especially when its scientifically based...
sorry for rambling on but everyone i know hates scifi.....
