I wrote this villanelle very quickly last night so I have not done any editing. Tell me what you think. It may seem very similiar to "Mellon Collie Love"...that's because both are in the same style - the villanelle.

Absence of Fear

Quickly this sense of malice ripens.
Uncontrollable; It traps and taunts.
I must be strong until my faith widens.

My courage wavering before this titan,
My future revealed, constantly flaunts.
Quickly this sense of malice ripens.

Unable to be manifested it strengthens
Serving Darkness’s evil will; haunts
I must be strong until my faith widens.

Valor exists in our sovereigns,
Only increasing with vaunts
Quickly this sense of malice ripens.

The fear will be gone; controlled by heavens
Never again attacks nor daunts,
I must be strong until my faith widens.

The attacks are fierce; producing lesions
But will perish against a sconce.
Quickly this sense of malice ripens.
I must be strong until my faith widens.

It's got a very nice flow to it, and it holds you to the end. There's a kind of climatic feel about it. Good word use, too. I'm envious of anyone who can write a poem that isn't a joke or a narrative.
