so why has Jack been wearing those black rimmed glasses when ever he's on a G. ship or an Asgar ship?

Glasses

Basic idea: shooters glasses, to keep hot brass and fragments out of his eyes and cut done on eye irritation from burnt gunpowder. Both Sam and Teal'c are also wearing them.

I think some of it may also be film technical. It looks like a lot of the 'bug' scenes are filmed with black light [ultraviloet light] to accent the bugs and the glasses may help keep the glare down to decrease headaches, etc. IMHO.

Just checking but which eppy are you refering to about the glasses skoon......are you talking about his dark glasses that he seems to be beamed aboard the asgard ships while wearing or the clear ones that you see when they are fighting the techno bugs?

Rowan,
Thanks for that info. When I was watching Enemies for a second time, the glasses really caught my attention, and I was meaning to ask someone what they were. Thanks for explaining. Much appreciated.
:D

ya, I was refering to the glasses he (don't know if Sam & T. were wearing them the first time) was wearing while shooting the replicators. I could be wrong but I think they had a yellowish tint to them. Could they also be to help see better in dfarker places? I know some people wear yellow lenses at night when driving. Oh & I think RDA looks kinda hot in them, mmmmm. Don't mined me & my day dreaming.

Glasses

First: Arc-Angel: Don't know. Could be a continuity glitch in filming, maybe the UV wasn't bright enough. The little suckers didn't see to fly apart a badly when taken out with the P-90. Too mnay possibilities. I'll have to *force* myself to rewatch the episodes.

Skoon: A lot of shooters glasses have a yellow tint to them. It helps cut the glare but still gives you a clear view of what you're seeing - shadows and such to help you judge distance and aim on the fly, which was the kind of shooting they were doing. Classically called 'Point and Squeeze' verses percise targeting. that's why you put so much time in on the range so you can instinctively shoot like this is you have to. Especially in a 'CQB' [Close Quarters Battle] situation such as this.

cool, thanx. still think Jack looks pretty hot in them...

Yeah well I can't argue with that:blush: :kisses:

No argument

I've seen 'Jack' do it a couple of times and 'Daniel' a lot. When they remove those glasses and look right at you the look becomes all that much more personal and intimate for those few seconds.

It's a good technique to call attention to the actor's eyes.

Like I need my attention called.....

sigh, I hope Jack wears them on tonights new episode, heck, I'll settle for Jack just being on tonights new episode

If anyone is getting an outfit together for con or get together, I've found a like set of glasses. For $25 you get the dark, really yellow, and clear. zLeader Action-sport Performance Eyeguard. Close enough for govenrment work any how.

I want to hazard that the below company might have been the ones used in the show cause they're made in Canada. Of course, they might have gotten the better ones than what I did at Sportmart. On site is something with rims....

Check it out,

We are getting close, my friends, to having our very own shooter glasses!

As for why they suddenly show up, apart from any black light issues on set, I wondered if someone in fandom piped up and said in RL shooters get glasses. Fan power, you know?

If it was for blacklight issues, I guess I didn't know what I should about it...

Glasses

They sure look pretty close. I don't believe the one's on the show were strapped. they had regular eyeglass temples.

Apologies. I now have a screen cap pic on my desktop from a low, 3/4 profile side shot of Jack and I now see that they aren't the same. :erm: I'm wondering if props picked up some regular glasses that are super cool, you know? In shape and the full, thin frame they match some of my regular wrap around sunglasses but clear.

Not that this will stop me putting together an outfit, I'm not that stuck for detail. Or, am I?

RDA...

RDA is *not* a guy I'd kick out for eating crackers in bed.....
{Um.... I think that was supposed to stay an 'inside voice' thing...
Inside Voice can be opinionated, Outside voice needs to be PC}
:reyes:

just thought i'd stick my face in here and say you're all crackers :p

I'd never dream and drool about my fave sci-fi stars in such a way.... :rolly2:

Thinking of stars

Let's put it this way, Markpud. If Rick weren't a star and I ran across him somewhere, I'd still be atracted to him as a person of intellengence and personality, not just for the bod.

He's only about a year and a half older than I am and we share a lot of the same interests [outdoors, sports ...].

If he would give me the 'time of day' ... say, a dinner and dancing after, I wouldn't object to getting to know him better.

And if it every came to 'crackers' ... well, in my book, you gotta care for someone deep down inside to have them in your bed in the first place.

So my comment about 'crackers in bed' still holds valid.

;)
