How did Xena effect you????

She changed my whole way of thanking. Even though I am a woman I can be strong. I can even be strong being a mother of two. Women can kick butt to and still be sensative.

Wow. What a question!
I grew up with Shera: Princess of Power then along came Xena:Warrior Princess

Both shows accuentuated a sence of woman power. Being a tom-boy, I always apreciated that. Shera was who I turned to when the boys in the neighborhood were picking on me. Now, as I am older, I turn to Xena when I have to overcome sterotypes. Being from the city (now livving in a small town) this town still had a "Men are supieror" attitude. Strong women like Xena and Gabrielle shattered the glass sliper idea!

I also like the fact that Disney is now jumping on the banwagon. They went from princesses like Cinderella and Snow White to strong heroines like Mulan and Kida (Atlantis).

Let's see, since I started watching the show....reawakend a dream I'v long forgotten, went to places I'd never think I'd actually go, learn things that are 'exotic' according to lots of people......met people that changed my perspectives and my life experience ....forever.

oh, and I luv watching X and G kick butts .....get my frustrations and anger out of the way just by watching them.

I forgot about Shera! That was my favorite show when I was little.

Now... regarding Xena... I don't even know where to begin.

It's a mix of mythology and history set in the ancient world, Xenaverse style. It's comedy, drama, tragedy, a western, the three stooges reborn... It's the collaborative effort of a dedicated cast and crew who put 110% into every aspect of the show. I've been given a further education through Xena as it inspires me, again and again, to hunt out the history or myth or culture or religion behind each episode. It's a show about two flawed, strong women who fight the good fight. It's a show about honor and all it's complexities, about redemption and about forgiveness... It's tongue in cheek. It's not afraid to laugh. The amount of time, care, and detail which goes into the show is unlike anything else on television. It's a far better show than it deserves to be, but I promise you that it's the best show on TV, even at it's worst. There is no racism, sexual discrimination, or prejudice in the Xenaverse. Because of this, it's fanbase is compiled of every sex, age, race, nationality, religion, size, profession, and sexuality. It's the most watched show in Turkey. It's amazing, it's unheard of, it's just a TV show. But I love it. And it drives me to create. The energy put forth by the cast and crew is not lost on me. It's inspirational.

Hello msvestal,

I must say that during the first two years of Xena, she affected me in a positive way. A strong woman who didn't have to account to anyone and was on the road to her own redemption, in her own time. Yet beginning with season 3, and particularly season 4 on, it became evident that she did in fact have to account for her actions to her best friend Gabrielle. And that's where the series began to go downhill. It's almost as if she became henpecked by Gab.
