Last nite just saw a movie starring Bruce C. called 'Army of Darkness'. I'v never seen it before. only thing I know was Bruce is in there, but then I recognize the make-up similar to 'DarkmanI and II' and THEN, 1 or 2 fighting moves reminded me of Xena's trade moves. behold, saw the credits and it was indeed by the same bunch. even music was by Joseph.
Has anyone else seen that movie?

*gasp* Keph! Army of Darkness is #3 in a triology of sorts... try to rent Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Ted Raimi is in all 3... so is Bruce. Sam Raimi directed, Rob Tapert produced, Joe did the music...

They're great films! I originally started to watch Xena because I found out Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert were the producers... because I love the ED trio so much.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun. LOL

Thanx ewlyn! actually, I'm doing the total opposite thing. I'm watching out for anything that's directed, produced or written by Tapert, and the Raimis just cuz I luv what they have done with XWP and I want to see their previous work.
ciao,
Keph.

*L*

Another film, which I really liked by Sam Raimi, was "The Gift" which doesn't have the camp aspect of his other stuff. I also liked "The Quick and The Dead" which is, IMO, worth renting. It's got some cool camera shots... too bad Bruce Campbell got cut from it.

well, I guess, these are all gonna go on my 'to rent' list for my short summber holidays!
by the way, actually can't wait for "Spiderman", looks good from the teaser. some websites spell Xena as Zena.
ciao,
Keph.

What website spells Xena Zena? *L*

Spiderman does look good! Did you hear that there's a Xena reference in it? One of the wrestlers is dressed like her. *L* And Lucy, Ted, and Bruce will all be in it. :)

I also want to add that I think Tobey Maguire was a good choice for Peter Parker.

My friend spells Xena,Zena!

I know Bruce is the ringside announcer, but I'm not quite sure what Lucy and Ted are.
I can't wait for Spiderman to come out,I'd like to see.(I'm sure it would be a great drive-in movie if it comes out in the summer)

BTW~Does anyoen know when it's coming to theaters?

I think it's scheduled for May 2002 release in the US. Sometime next summer.

Lucy is playing a punk... she's in it for literally about 10 seconds and I don't even think she has any lines. *L* Ted is, I believe, a reporter.

That's kinda dissapointing!...no lines and brief appearance for Miss Lawless?!
anyway, now, I'm only CONSIDERING seeing it. but then again, I do like watching TR and BC. in action!
Keph.

*L* Lucy is in it because she went to visit the set and wanted to play a cameo. I don't think she actually wanted a part in the film, I'm under the impression she just wanted to be a part of what was going on that day. *g*

Personally, I cannot wait to see it!

That was, sadly, rumor. :( http://www.imdb.com has the updated info. I think they also released an official statement or something letting people know Ted's just got a bit part.

It's so unfair! *waaaahhhh!* I wanted to see Ted in a key part. Ted deserves more credit than people give him. He's such a good actor. *sob*

Welcome back Euterpe. :)

sure like to see Ted in a total different role apart from Joxer. I like it better when he plays Jet and Jess.
Ted did a great job with Joxer but I guess the nature of his character and the story line sometimes leave him less credits than he deserves.
bah! prabably he plays Joxer so well that there are bunch of people just plain dislike Joxer!
ciao,
Keph.

Personally, I love and miss Joxer. I also think that had Jett and Jace been on Xena as much as Joxer, people would probably view them differently.

IMO, Joxer was the one true friend they had. He never gave up on them, always supported them, was the only person who kept searching for them when everyone else thought he died.

So noble...

I'm going to start crying again...

You cry and I'm gonna start to cry!
I really liked Joxer,he was funny and could be very sweet like in Soul Possesion when he gave Xena the flower for something new and he said he was the thing that was blue!
Joxer doesn't get the credit he deserves!

ewlyn bursts into hysterical sobbing yet again and takes a tissue

I miss Joxer!

This is a repost but oh well!

on Army of Darkness

If you're really interested in the legacy of the Raimi/Tapert/Campbell dynasty, you *must* get Bruce Campbell's autobiography, "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Actor." He goes into great detail on the early years with the "Detroit mafia."

Interestingly, the (semi) success of AoD was what made Universal offer them a gig at producing a slot for the old "Action Pack" syndicated series. Universal wanted a TV version of Conan, but there were problems getting the rights, so they suggested Hercules instead. Raimi/Tapert said "OK, but we'll do it *our* way" which meant just like AoD - with a lot of comedy, a lot of anachronistic dialogue, a lot of over-the-top camera work, a lot of cartoonish violence, and incredible special effects done relatively cheap via any number of tricks (like mainly shooting centaurs from the waste up, using "forced perspective" for the giants, etc.
