SEASON 5 SPOILER:

Now y'all know I can't remember epy names. In the most recent epy, when Sam passes out at a site, and "meets" a new friend . . .

it is interesting how the show's writers/editors/scenery guys? portrayed her home. It was pretty . . . busy (inside). It reminded me of an elderly English (no offense; we Americans only see Public Television) lady's home, with lots of STUFF in it.

I guess I just couldn't see Sam spending that much time finding all that stuff to put in a home. Especially since she/her character must have moved to Colorado when the Stargate program started, at which time she had NO time to herself.

Just a thought. I was surprised.

I was kind of surprised too. i always thought she'd live in an apartment or a studio or something and with tons less...i don't know, 'stuff'.

My thought exactly. Loft; lots of space; not alot of stuff; laptop and desk the primary area in the living room.

Now Daniel's apartment was perfect for his character (except it had a balcony for him to try and jump off of . . . ).

i for one never thought of sam haveing a house...apartment certainly but a house and all that maintenance that comes with it? nah. i always pictured an apartment or maybe duplex, living room wtih sofa, comfy chair and big expensive entertainment center (she strikes me as a gadget girl)
a small kitchen with appliances that look like new
a bathroom with candles on the ledges
a bedroom with a nice big queen sized bed and another bedroom with a computer and books and stuff
maybe a roll out couch so someone can stay over

all in all, big and airy, lotsa plants(did we see any?)
and simple. not as much klatch as they showed

I sort pictured an appartment too.
It was odd that she had such a big kitchen area concidering in "Emancipation" she revealed what a terrible cook she was and that she couldn't sew to save her life.
Not really the words of a "homely" person.

Also, did you check out the garden area? Very tidy and well looked after.
Wonder if someone takes care of her home while shes at the SGC?

Ya know, I thought it was weird too, and then for some reason, I figured maybe she had taken her dad's house when he joined the Tok'ra. To me, it made sense that he would have accumulated all this stuff when her mom was alive, and it just stayed there when he left and she took over <shrug>

I didn't ever consider that he may have lived in another town....it just cleared up the oddity for me, I guess, so I jumped at it :D Works for me, anyway!

Good theory though!
Even if it wasn't her dads place, she would probably keep some of his stuff if he had to pack up his things to live with the Tok'Ra.

Here's a question (though a little off topic): What is Jacobs status on earth - since he's not on it anymore?
Is he "official" dead? Or just can not be reached?
I don't know.

Oh, yeah, huh.

"Hello, I'm not here right now. Please leave a brief message after the tone and i will get back to you." BEEEEEEP.

didn't they mention in the tokra part one that jacob took a "place in town" to be closer to his daughter?? at the time i assumed it was an apartment....but he was a general so maybe he bought a house??though thats kind of weird for a dying man. i always assumed she'd have a no maintenance place myself too.!

I agree

I guess I never really thought about Sam's place, until they showed it. I like it, but now that I read all of your posts, I realize that she does spend all of her free time doing projects at the mountain. When would she have bought all of that stuff? I did, however, like that they showed Sam in street clothes. I like seeing them as "regular" people. Besides, sometimes I forget that she's a woman (since she's always dressed like a soldier). It was very interesting also to see her in her PJ's (with cleavage - the part in the bathroom). I guess since she doesn't get to kiss many guys on the show, they gave her a little skin shot. Who knows. I thought it was cool though.

You know, I thought it was strange also. She should have been in an apartment or even a duplex with a balcony like Daniels. That would have been more in tune with her character. As for all that STUFF! Some of it could have been her fathers' but it didn't look like anything Jacob would buy, and it wasn't old enough to be passed down from her mother.

As for her kissing anybody...OH PLEASE! The girl hasn't been kissed in nearly 5 years! :crying: Except once by Jack, :kisses: but since she doesn't remember, it doesn't count.:crying:

she did kiss narim way back in enigma...danny walked in on them.

anywho, funny you should bring up this thread. as i'm sure you've heard AT did pop into the con. totally thrilled us, i think i blew a whole roll of film.
anyway she did lament her boyfriend status, wants one that actually lives through the experience. called herself the black widow of sci-fi.
and she brought up her house. she said she also envisioned an open place, maybe a loft. empty and roomy. she didn't think she'd have as much stuff. then of course the actress brought in a lot of other stuff, things fans have sent her over the years to decorate it. some of the pictures on the wall were of AT and her family.
then she said she explained away the cluttered state of the house by telling herself that she'd taken over jacob's house when he'd moved into the springs to be near her in tokra...so....either we all sorta think like AT or she'd been in here and likes our ideas.
anyway, we all had the right idea.
which is totally cool!

Your opinion is not trivial!

I just saw this episode last night (we are soo behind you!)

I remembered that we had this discussion last year about what Sam's house/apartment would look like. Some people thought that it would have gadgets -- maybe cars or motorcycles dismantled into parts, a wardrobe full of motorcycling leathers... DIY hardware and electronic equipment.

It surprised me because it had none of that, but it didn't have a lot of plants, cut flowers and high maintenance ornaments either. It was decorous and sedate, but not elaborate. It did have a large kitchen though. It could have been a man's house. So I think the idea that it might have been Jacob's house is a good one.

Agreed. And I just can't see Sam spending any little spare time she has dusting . . . and what kind of security clearance would you need to be her housekeeper?

. . . and I still think Sam's closet is full of leather . . . :naughty:
