Little Star asked if someone would like to do this. You have your chance to vote yourself but take a look at this first:

The films in order of their gross box office receipts (Source: The Numbers.)

1.) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. 11/28/1986 $109,713,132
2.) Star Trek: First Contact. 11/22/1996 $ 91,968,563
3.) Star Trek: The Motion Picture 12/06/1979 $ 82,300,000
4.) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 06/04/1982 $ 78,912,963
5.) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock 06/01/1984 $ 76,400,000
6.) Star Trek: Generations 11/18/1994 $ 75,612,463
7.) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 12/06/1991 $ 74,739,913
8.) Star Trek: Insurrection 12/11/1998 $ 70,177,571
9.) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 06/09/1989 $ 52,206,498

The films in order of 'The Star Trek Monthly' readers poll, February 2001.

1.) Star Trek: First Contact.
2.) Star Trek: Insurrection.
3.) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
4.) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
5.) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
6.) Star Trek: Generations.
7.) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
8.) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
9.) Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

There are some interesting things here:

i) Only the Voyage Home took over $100,000,000.
ii) The Wrath of Khan is supposedly the best film, yet it is only halfway down both lists.
iii) The Motion Picture is supposedly the worst (The Final Frontier is very close) yet it is the third biggest at the box office. (It has been around longer though).
iv) The readers poll is skewed heavily towards the more recent films.

Reviews of the films if you've forgotten them: Star Trek Film Reviews

Deifnately First Contact...... Action, thriller etc....

my fac film would have to be: The Voyage Home..just loved that film, but a close second would be First Contact i really liked that as well...peachy

i went for First Contact too.........I just LOVED the Zefram Cochrane character so very much!! Add the Borg, and a seriously p***** off Picard, it's prefect!

But also liked Search For Spock.

Didn't like Insurrection. :(

My faves are the recent movies.

I thought Patrick Stewart had some great emotional scenes in 'Generations' and the storyline was interesting. It also wins points with me simply by virtue of being the first ST movie to feature TNG cast. And didn't Data have some funny scenes in this one?

'First Contact' was very visually appealing, mostly because of the Borg. It was also a good action movie. I also liked how they portrayed the revered Zephraim Cochrane as quite ordinary--very realistic.

'Insurrection'? Great action movie.

DAVE----Thanks for looking up the $$$ info on the movies---very interesting & much appreciated!

Gotta be the TNG movies.... Piacrd and data... great combo

Sure seems like its gonna be.....

But Patrick Stewart did hint at the recent voyager returns convention that he did not see it as the end for voyager ???? maybe they will move into that area ???

What ya think

not quite sure what to think, Neo...

We should do a poll----which should be the next series to take over the movies (if TNG movies are over) ---VOY or DS9???

Which do you think would be more sucessful??

or do you think ST:X is just the end for ST movies??? (please say no......)

i really hope we have more ST movies!

And hopefully we can have both DS9 and Voyager (it's not nice to pick just one :D) oooh or better still now that Voyager is back hme maybe we can have a joint ds9/voyager one...i would LOVE to watch that!

i dont hink its the end of the movies just tng ones

i guess it's cause i grew up with a mother who watched ST all the time, but i loved the original series.... and the movies. then i really got into the next generation. so when they made a movie that combined the two, i loved it.

well even if for example Picard didnt want ot do another movie, they could continue on with Riker having command of his own ship, and bring in some crew from the other series to give a wider appeal to the fans... I doubt that such a popular franchise will be terminated..

I reckon Voyager will be the new film franchise
