well Southern Cross TV in TAS have skipped 'Watergate' and went strait to "the first ones' and even though i had seen this episode on asf, it was great to see it full size on television.
i loved the daniel/chaka releationship good job to michael shanks!
scorched earth next week, and congrats to channel 7 on the promo for SE, it was excellent!
 
I agree! The SE promo was very very good. It looks a brilliant episode (I've read the synopsis).

I thoroughly enjoyed The First Ones.

Do we spoiler spaces in the Oz section? I wouldn't have thought so.... Mr Moderator, a ruling please! (When you get back from your weekend away, that is :D )

I was sorry, in a way, that Rothman went. He seems to have got sassier like Daniel has - no meek mild mannered archaeologists on this show! Particularly that quip by Rothman about making the military guys go fetch the water. I thought it was a pity that it was Jack who shot him considering Jack's ambivalence (spelling?) towards/dislike for him from day one. But maybe it's poetic justice or irony or sumfing.

Thought Carter's hair was a bit long. And I was surprised to see that Teal'c still had the facial fuzz. I'd forgotten all about it.

but personally i dont think we need it, we didnt last year when we wrote our comments/reviews.
i really liked Sam's hair, she is a very attractive woman :D :D :D
did anybody notice that channel 7 has done any cutting? im not sure, ive watched the episode 2wice now and still unsure. cant be bothered watching the asf now :)
 
I was just wondering in your first post you mentioned (asf), are we talking about promos or full epiodes. :D
 
Like I've already said, we aren't getting any SG-1 in Vic:( , but shelby more than made up for it when she sent me a CD with all of season 4, S5's 'Enemies', and some cool extras. Everbody... tell Shelbs how wonderful she is!:D

As for The First Ones... I actually sniffled for a moment when Rothman bought the farm. He was a character with great promise, just like Martouf (kaput)... and Makepeace (turned into a bad guy...and Kawalsky (double kaput) ...and Feretti (just never shows up anymore) ...
Now that I think about it, all of my favs are being removed!Uh oh... I've got a sinking feeling that Alwin may be next (just a hunch). He's just such a dork that you've gotta love him.
Well, here's hoping he makes it through the ad breaks. Have a nice weekend everyone!

I thought Daniel had a really sarcastic humour streak in this ep. Strangely enough, i was actually laughing at the way he delivered his lines.... he usually doesn't get much of a go in the humour department, that's all Jack...

SE looks really good...!!!!
Sam's hair was way longer than i remembered, but she gets it short again soon, from what I've seen in the season four pics...
Does anyone else have this problem.... I could read off every ep, what happans and the order... because i've been to every bloody site and read the ep guides!! Which I wouldn't have had to do if it wasn't for channel seven...........And this thing with the spoiler section... can anybody here truthfully tell me they haven't read at least one episode guide of Season four while Stargate's been off air? If you can truthfully say you have never even been tempted, than you have an alien sense of discipline.


Oh, and I thought Sam even had a hidden humour agenda... did anybody else catch those secret amused looks with Jack??? And I loved the way she did the line where Daniel said something ( I'd watch the tape i made again and tell you the exact qoute, but it's 12.00, I've just finished work and I wanna go to bed!) after saying "don't shoot", and she pulled of that incredulus Jack kinda "Why???"

Can't wait for next week!
 
CHAKA rules! I thought he was fantastic.
I agree with JAD it was so great to see it on air after watching it on asf. There are things that i never picked up on in asf that i found on TV. For instance when Danny writes "This Way" on the wall and later Jack makes that joke to Teal'c about knowing which way to go. In the asf I never could read it cos it was too fuzzy.

I also agree with JAD about Sam's hair. I loved it that length and I was so pissed off (can I say that? sorry if anyone is offended) when she cut it. I think she cut it WAY too short. You'll know what I mean when you see Beneath the Surface.

Daniel was fantastic in this ep. I loved his relationship with Chaka. He was so funny and he had some really great lines:
"With your permission, I'm going to fall down now."
"I'm good for another 10 miles"
"Yes, toss the symbiote head. All the kids are doing it".
"Don't say nan until you've tried it"

I have to say that this is one of my favourite s4 eps. I'm not usually a fan of Daniel eps either, which made it all the more surprising.
 
That line "don't say nan until you've tried it" - when I watched it when it was broadcasting, I thought "hang on, Daniel didn't try the Goau'ld that Chaka tossed to him so how come he says it to Chaka?" Then when Jim watched it after school on Friday he said the same thing.

Anyone else pick up on that? Or has Daniel been chewing the snake either without letting us know or haven't I picked that one up from another ep.

I know I couldn't eat it, awful looking thing. I noticed Chaka gave Daniel the yuk looking end and kept the reasonable looking bit for himself. Or maybe the head end is the delicacy, like fish heads are to the Japanese. Excuse me while I go and ............. :dead:

I only commented about Sam's hair because it was looking unmilitary but I have to agree she is a beautiful woman and her hair looked wonderful and really suited her. And, hey, Hathor thought so too :D

And I agree with Shelby's comment about not generally being a fan of Daniel eps (it's sometimes hard to look past Jack ;) ), but I DO like this new Daniel (but then I tend towards sarcasm, just a little bit, sometimes, not much though, only on every other day ....... and yes, I know it's the lowest form of wit, but hey!, it's fun).
 
btw, it's nice to see that we all remember how to do long posts :D :D :D

Woo-Hoo 10 posts in and we are still on topic. This is fantastic people lets keep it up.

I don't blame Danny for not eating the Goa'uld either. I mean would you eat your worst enemy? Yuck, didn't look too appetising either.

Cat, if you love the new Danny, you will love S5 Danny. He is brilliant. I can't say enough about how great Danny has been so far in the new season. I won't go into particulars because I don't want to spoil it for everyone, but he is just SO good. It's really raised my opinion of the character.

Danny didn't wear his glasses in this ep either, so you could see his beautiful blue eyes. BTW: s5 ep next week Beast of Burden is a follow up to the First Ones.

Shelby, how are you seeing season five....i just don't get it!!! Do you fly over to America once a week and back again or something!!! Or have I totally missed the point????? It's not on DVD or video yet... is it? (And if it is i expect details...)

And Shazstar, I know how you feel.Everyone seemed to magically know what happened in S4, even though we were only halfway though S3 in Vic. Unfortunately I don't have the Net at home, so I can only download the previews onto a floppy. Oh, well, maybe someday...
But I can't believe no-one mentioned my favourite line! It was where Danny flopped down on the ground, and Chake growls at him. Then Daniel looks at him and goes "Yes!Grrrrest!" Ahh, I loved that one.
