Stingers in Stargate?

In either the movie or an episode of SG-1, someone used a Stinger MANPADS to shoot down an attacking enemy attack craft. Anyone remember why they brought Stingers along in the first place? Perhaps expecting such a situation?

The episode was Children of the Gods - the feature-length pilot episode of the first series. It was effectively the first offensive gate mission, to retrieve the female sergeant (what was her name, and cite the evidence?).

So, they went in with two SG units, and a FRED full of military hardware, including a shed-full of claymore's, tents and the Stinger.

Sam used what I think might have been a Stinger in Forever In A Day, and in the S5 episode, The Fifth Man, Jack used what looked like a mini-stinger.
