Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best anime series ever made. If you havn't seen it then you should make the effort to see see it.

Shinji Ikari is from an anime, Japanese animation, known as Shinsieki Evangelion, which translates as New Generation Gospel, but it also is known as NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. The anime is about the end of the world, as the 2nd Impact (rapture) has just took place. The year is now 2040, and God sees that mankind has lost faith in him, as the world needs no God. So, God wants to test their so-called power since mankind thinks they are better than God himself, by sending out his Angels to destroy the rest of the human race. But a secret organization known as NERV is here to destroy the Angels and let God know that their is still faith in mankind by creating robots with the souls of the good and Adam, first human. Their are five pilots of the Evangelion, Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Sohryu, Touji Suzuhara, and Kowaru Nagisa. Together they will save the world.

This is not your average anime. I like this anime because it is different. It has religious themes and it has great animation. This anime was the most popular anime in Japan, and is still since 1995. Rei Ayanami was voted #1 sexy female character of all time, leaving Asuka Langely Sohryu #3. Kowaru Nagisa was #1 of sexy male character, leaving Shinji Ikari #3, and Touji Suzuhara #5. Their is a total of 26 episodes (1 season), as well as 2 movies, and a new movie coming out next year. The American distribution is ADVISION (ADV Films). The movies distribution is MANGA INC. The series is rated 13+ due to brief nudity and violence. The later episodes is rated 16+ due to graphic violence. The movies I have not seen since they are not out yet and should be out by October 2001. They are all rated R due to graphic violence and adult issues. The movies are called END OF EVANGELION and DEATH AND REBIRTH. Death And Rebirth are a remake of episodes 25 and 26 and the End of Evangelion is a whole new story about the world ending and how crazy people can go if they are possessed by sin.

This programme seems ok. Wat exactly is it?

The style sounds a lot like Sailor moon (drawing i mean), but the story is probably nothing like it (well, deafinately actually). Explain more plz..

At last. Well Neon Genesis Evangelion isn't so much a series as it is a 26 part mini series, with 3 full length movies. The year is 2015. As the remnants of the human race cower in subterranean cities, a deadly war is being waged for what is left of the planet. On one side are the mysterious beings known only as the Angels; on the other; the special agency NERV and mankind's last hope, the evangelions. Piloted by a special team of young warriors, these gian bio-mechanical humanoids are the only thing that can withstand the force of the Angels' defence fields long enough for the pilots to tackle the massive invaders themselves in brutal hand to hand combat. With the lives of every soul on the planet at stake, these few youngsters must find the strength and courage necesary to meet the Angels head on in a desperate attempt to save mankind. At the same time, NERV struggles to pierce the veil of mystery surrounding the enigmatic Angels. Why was the earth attacked? And why were the only qualified evangelion pilots all born exactly nine months after the giant meteor impact that massacred half the human population? High-tech action, blistering battle sequences soul ripping drama and spectacular visuals are merged in a stunning new animated mini-series that ventures beyond the boundaries of space opera and even questions the very nature of what it is to be human.

hmm. The story reminds me off Gundam Wing. But it sounds very good. I'll try and watch it wen i can. Wen is it on, and wat channel if you're in the UK?

Sorry I'm not from the UK so I couldn't tell you. It's out on dvd and video. Try the video store or the library? Definitely worth seeing. Once you see it you're hooked. I can't get enough of it.

Centuries in the future, in the year After Colony 195, Earth is surrounded by orbiting space colonies. The colonists are cruelly oppressed by the Earth Alliance, which uses huge humanoid fighting machines called "mobile suits" to control the populace.
