Hey all,
A possible idea here. Don't nitpick it too, much, it's still in the early stages:
Okay, as you should all know, Ra got the snot blown out of him in the movie (nukes to the face will do that to you), and unfortunately, he can't be in the series. But think back to the second episode, "The Enemy Within", where it is told that the Goa'uld are born with a genetic memory.
It's also been shown, hinted, etc in several eps that the Goa'uld are quite good at genetic manipulation and cloning. Now if a Goa'uld could find a way to read and 'download' it's genetic profile, we could bring back Ra!
Sorry, let me clear that up. Let's say that the snakes have this ability. Now in the last moments of the film, when the bomb is ringed up to the ship, Ra knows he's gonna die. He activates some sort of device that reads his genetic memory, and that memory is transmitted somewhere (a secret base? Heru-Ur?), where he can be cloned, with all his memories intact and ready to whoop some butt. Prehaps this device would also download the DNA of the host, so the Goa'uld would look the same (thereby avoiding confusion).
Well, I came up with that idea at about midnight, so its got a lot of holes in it. Any ideas?Comments?
Thanks,

Good idea mate! However, one point is obvious to me - why would a Goa'uld 'reincarnate' another, especially the highest System Lord, when it's creating more competition and they themselves could rule the galaxy without Ra?
And the System Lords do change hosts occasionally, so it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble of cloning the host when you can get another.
Perhaps Ra sent his memory/DNA to his followers, who have learnt by rote to use the cloning device(s) and recreate him?
Just something to think about :)

Well, maybe another Goa'uld would do it because he'd have no power otherwise. Take Zipcantha, for example. If Apophis were to die (again), and Zippy took over his armies, his Jaffa would be too busy making jokes about his name to actually do anything :D
Actually, there'd be a very good reason... that I can't remember. But I do know that something similar happened in the Star Wars book duology 'The Hand of Thrawn' (Specter of the Past, and Vision of the Future) by Timothy Zahn. If you can find a copy or two somewhere, read it and let me know what it is.
