East Coast...

SG-1's main hiatus is mid October through February [something about one of the stars and executive producers being into winter sports and traveling...] so that would have to be the main window to get folks out there.

One of the reasons 'GateCon' is held where and when it is is to catch the majority of the actors and crew on the set and just across town so we have fewer costs to pay for 'fly-in's' and accomodations for the major stars.

Now... folks like Jay Acovane [who I would fly anywhere he wanted to go. :star: That's my 'personal' opinion and not the 'official' opinion of Gatecon Productions BTW...:D ], JR Bourne [who falls in the same catagory], etc , who no longer have regular consistant roles, would probably have easier schedules to work around.

You need logistics and money that the con staff has to raise somehow because *all* actors contracts say they have to be paid upfront [union rule] and that's what makes starting a Con difficult. And one of the major reasons GateCon presells all it's tickets and doesn't do 'at the door'.

We *have* to know what our operating budget is before we can get deep into negotiations with agents, etc.

I can't see why it couldn't be done... it's just the 'getting it off the ground' part that's tricky.

well let me know if there is anything i can do. would love to have a local con. im sure the interest would be here. and i think most the actors/producers/behind the scenes people would like visit ny. how'd they do the london one?

Wolf in London

If you check the guest lists, only one or two actors usualy make it over from one show. Also WOLF 3 is just their SG con... Wold Enterprises, Ltd. [which I believe the parent corp is called] does a lot of cons and has a pretty broad financial base.

Sadly, some actors, writers, etc won't go to anything Wolf does becasue of some financial problems a couple of years ago and some folks not getting paid.

So... they bring over 1-3 actors. We have 11 or 12 *plus* the various crews [make-up, wardrobe, stunt, etc...]. We have a much higher overhead be con member ratio. Even though some of the actors are local, some are brought in, like Jay Acovone. And we try to keep the membership number's down so folks can actually have some times with the actors and crew.

Differences in approach basically. Our funding structure is much tighter.

Very Close Row,

We will infact have close to 40 guests doing panels at the con. This will include almost every aspect of the show from stars, co-stars, executives, directors, writers, production crew... you name it.... we will have it.

the main 'names' will be Teryl Rothery, Jay Acovone, Alexis Cruz, Dan Shea, Don Davis, Peter Williams, Tony Amendola, Jay Brazeau, Bill Nikolai, JR Bourne, Gary Jones, Joesph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.

GateCon

Listen to Gatecon. He knows.

I'm just one of the 'Highly Skilled Go-Fer's lower down on the food chain. What I lack in inside info I make up for in crazed energy and the ability to find almost anything anywhere at any hour of the day or night.

I was a sergeant in the Army. And it shows. :}

no fair living in seattle. i so wanna go but can't swing the distance this year. oh well maybe next. it would be so cool to see vancouver and see in person where the sg films and many others. start to recognize the scenery in other tv shows and films.
