Blake's 7 film?

When I was trawling the 'net for some B7 pictures I read rumours of a Blake's 7 film
(a TV movie I think). These rumours made the press at the time (a year or two ago)
but there appeared to be little in the way of update information.

Does anyone know any more on this?

BTW - I am pretty sure that "Roy" in Eastenders (!) played Ensor's son (Ensor being
the creator of Orac); I think the episode was "Deliverance" (have to check). ;)
 
When I read your post in Dr. Who, I was going to say that you are in luck, because Padders says he has just added this section -- but I see that you've already found it!!

I think that you are right about Roy from Eastenders. Did you see Dirty Den in Dr Who as well.

As for the film, I posted some more recent info in another forum, which is one of the reasons Padders created this mini-forum. I'll try and get it moved here. But I think the thread was called 'Blakes Seven Yeah or Neah'.

Just to let you know FoxTV and Neo are big Blakes 7 fans here, so you are not alone.

Gonna have to start keeping an eye out for info about this Tv Movie as i for one would love to see that
 
Saw a picec in a national newspaper talking about the cult aspect of blake 7... but it also said that the film was in jepodey due to not having a financial backer...

Not sounding tooo good

Thanks for those links Dave, that sounds promising - I didn't realise that it was still an ongoing option in 2001 - cool.

FWIW I think the idea of a follow-up movie would be good but so would a modern day remake of the original story, which is a fine novel in itself. I'd like to see a modernised Liberator design, look how the Enterprise was developed for film usage...

Got newsletter today

Hello,

I was surprised and pleased to receive Part1 of a newletter from the Blake's 7 team today, I'd better not say too much because it can't be reposted without explicit consent but there is now an anonymous scriptwriter for the film. It is stated intriguingly that the anonymous scriptwriter is "the best selling author of all time. Think about it." hmmm...

Plus it is warned that the film will not appear overnight.

Although it cannot be reposted it is encouraged to send it in full to fellow fans so if anyone wants a copy let me know:

Newsletter part 2

I got the second part of the newsletter...

Apparently with the scriptwriter issue dealt with the focus now is
on making a deal with one of "several interested" TV distribution
companies. Hmmmm...

Also I noticed that the first part of the newletter states that it is
about the Blake's 7 film or possible new series. Possible new series,
now I like the sound of that! Might get some people talking about
it again too...

I still think an updated Liberator would be a good idea, there are
plenty of ways to hack this into the script, we know there were (at
least) 2 liberators DSV 1 & 2 from "Redemption". I nver did like the
way the crew got hold of Scorpio then magically got hold of
teleporter technology AND a super fast drive. I think a 3rd time
would be too much, less believable than finding a third ship or
class of ship from the builders of Liberator.

Since you are an Admin Neo, can't you move that 'Blake's 7 Yeah or Neah' thread here from ASciFi Announcements? It would double the number of posts in this mini-forum in one go.
 
So has anyone any more news on this?

I've belatedly asked Bouncing Ayatolah to sign me up for the newsletter, hope that it's still going ahead.

Padders only gave us this section on the strength of that film, and a report that there were more UK websites on B7 than any other SF show.
 
No news is ... errr ... an absence of news

As a kind of update ... I haven't heard anything from them for a while.. I'll let you all know when I do. The last news on the site was for October last so hopefully we should be due something soon. I'll have a sniff around on the Web for anything too...
