Talk about going where no man has gone before. In Enterprise's third episode, Chief Engineer Charlie 'Trip' Tucker will not only get pregnant, but he'll also start growing nipples on his arm!

"I don't know how much I'm allowed to tell you," Tucker's real life alter-ego Connor Trinneer told Entertainment Weekly (via TrekWeb). "I get pregnant, but it's not like I get impregnated. It's an accident. This alien and I put our hands in this granule things and read each other's minds and the next thing you know I've got nipples coming out of my arm."

Trip's 'enhancements' allowed makeup maestro Michael Westmore to really get his teeth into things. "They're made out of gelatin, like the stuff you buy in the supermarket, which has more luminosity than rubber or latex," he said, describing the nipples. "You could actually eat these things if you wanted to."

As previously reported, Tucker unwittingly becomes pregnant when he goes to the aid of some stranded aliens. When the Enterprise crew try to track down them down, they find the aliens hiding in the slipstream of a Klingon ship, leading to a volatile situation. Enterprise executive producer Rick Berman recently described 'Unexpected' as "very funny"

okay -- this is the ep that was on last night --

that 'trip gets pregnant' thing was so NOT it -- don't know what that was - unless that's the 3rd aired ep - listed as ep 4 -- (don't ya hate it when they # the 2-parters as 2 eps? -- i know they do it b/c they split 'em up later - but it's annoying)

I coulda done without Hoshi giving the girly scream (waaaay too cliche) but at least she was embarrassed about it. Good episode. They're introducing us to all the characters slowly, I'm thinking.

Overall I thought this episode was good.

You get to see the difference in the Vulcan and human philosophy. The humans are more curious than the vulcans for one thing.

Poor Hoshi, she wants to be out there where she can actually hear the languages but is so afraid. As Archer told her about the suit she just has to bite her lip and bear it.

Well i just downloaded it tonight from the net....

If anyone in the UK wants to ... the address is in my sig

Not as good as 'Broken Bow' but a chance for more character development.

I don't know about the T'Pol take on a Vulcan, she certainly is very aware of human emotions for a Vulcan.

Again I thought that it was very 'alien' influenced, even more so in this episode, when they were on the Axanar ship.

No explanation of the squeek in Archer's cabin, or why Starfleet sent them out on a course in a direction the Vulcans have never been before. Maybe it was just to annoy the Vulcans! However, it might have been more sensible to go and make friends with aliens that we already knew were non-hostile, than to go off and make new enemies. Especially, as they are always outgunned and unprotected.

Hoshi is still whinging and complaining, nothing on the ship works properly -- these things do not make good stories on their own and can only become annoying if they continue every week.

very true --

they need to have at least on episode where all the stuff on the ship works, but maybe something else goes wrong --

i understood that the weapons wouldn't work properly - they're new -- but let's hope they aren't always broken --

was ok.... but broken bow was better....

Was a bit rushed.... felt as though there could have been more meat on the bone

Watched this on Sky One last night. I agree it was OK but definately not as good as Broken Bow, but then we'd all been waiting so long for the first ep it had to be good 'un.

This one didn't exactly blow me away and that translator chickie, Hiroshi (I'm sure thats not right) is going to seriously get on my nerves if she doesn't sort herself out ! Yes we know she didn't want to come on board, but she's there so she may as well get on with it and stop whingeing

Still loving the Doc tho - especially the line that they could always feed the ailing slug to his bat !!

I did kind of get the feeling, mid way thru, that I was watching Sam Beckett in the body of a starfleet captain but the feeling didn't stay with me throughout the ep so I'm not going to get too worried about that. I guess that is just Scott Bakula - he is so ingrained in my brain as Sam Beckett he needs to do something totally un-Sam like to get rid of that.

Lets see what next weeks ep brings

Not bad, not as good as the first ep but then that was a 2 hour one which does help :)

I quite like the fact that Koshi does not want to be there at the moment. The bit at the end was a bit cheesy but I think having someone scarred is quite a good idea. You don't often get than in the other series and I don't think it is a bad thing.

I would have thought that T'Pol would have warped away when the other ship did not answer the hail. That might have been the logical thing to do :)

Not a bad episode. Twas funny when Hoshi screamed.

I like the doctor, seems quite nice. Decent bedside manner. What else can I say? Totally agree about it not being as good as Broken Bow but it can only get better right?

It was a let down after the first pilot epy...

When they fought the alien vessel why do they rely on torpedoes? Why couldn't they have used the ships laser cannons?
