Evangelion (yes that's right neon genesis evanglion) is damn good (incredibly addictive), but then I've only seen episodes 1-18 (of 26). Plus there's two movies. It's really hard to find a place to download the eps on the net, mainly because the fans view this as insulting the creators. However I did find a site where you can download the End of Evangelion movie however it's best to see the series first because you really need to have all the info to be able to "basically" comprehend what the hell going on (also I think it's in japanese). As the series goes on it can get really complicated if you havn't been paying attention to who's who and what's been happening plus there are lots of questions that are left unanswered.
The storyline for that gandum wing seems to be similar to that of a lot of other animes, giant robots fighting giant alians &/or giant robots. What sets evangelion apart is that they arn't robots, In actual fact they are giant biological beings/creatures/I'm still not entirely sure what they are, but it's actually armor that are wearing that not only protects them when they are battling the angels but is also necessary for the pilots to keep the "evas" under control.
