star chart?

This is going to be hard to explain, so please bear with me.

You all know the famous star chart with all the planet marked their visited marked on it. It’s in the main control room...I think.

Well, its only 2D. The planets are marked, up, down, left and right.
But Earth is a sphere. So what happens to the other planets that are in front and behind Earth? (If that doesn't make any sense, don't worry. I told you it's going to be hard to explain).

If you add in the spin of the earth, and the rotation of the earth round the sun, and probably some universal spin we may not even have noticed yet...

I guess they just rotate it a few degrees - it is only symbolic anyway.
