Best of the three?

Hmm, I can't really decide, obviously ROTK would be the number one choice but there were aspects of each that I found intruiguing. For the first one I really liked the beginning in Hobbiton and every other aspect of the Shire. Though for soem reason I felt the first one was extremely long and just when you thought it was going to end it didn't.

For the second I obviously liked Helm's Deep because I thought that Jackson did the battle magificently. I also liked the Ents at Isenguard but other then that The Two Towers really didn't do much for me either.

The third one incorporated everything, from a great battle to the great acting that was present throughout the trilogies. I think now that it's over I look at the whole thing as one big film and I enjoy it even more.
 
Personally I liked the Two Towers a little better. If only for the Gollum parts :). They are all so very well done I believe they set a very high standard. I can't wait til they come out as a set on DVD.:D
 
I would have to say ROTK it was the final one and just tied things up the battle of Pelenor Fields was brilliantly done and f you look pass all the mistakes people keep throwing my way then it has to be the best one Minas Tirith was amazing and the Army of the Dead was great tho a bit glow in the dark type thing:rolleyes:

For the extended versions I love FOTR they added more depth into it and before ROTK it was my favourite

Two Towers was so dark that was what it would have been like the middle film the not knowing if they would all live or die

 
ROTK provided conclusion for sure but overall I still like Fellowship the best. I love the opening scene in the Shire and the way the story is set up. Its funny because ROTK is my favorite when thinking about the books.
 
I must say I've always preferred FOTR. I hadn't even read LOTR before that, and afterwards I went straight to the bookshelf to find it!
I think I prefer FOTR because it's more personal - a small group of people who are very much alone in their trip. The cave troll fight is just as intense (I think) as some of the battle scenes because of this: you really are shown the fight rather than the scene.
But yeh, I loved FOTR! Introduced me to LOTR, really nice balance of epic and personal, beautiful settings... Boromir... hehe.

I liked FOTR the most for some reason even though I really liked the others a lot ... The first was probably my favorite beacuse of the journey and the whole adventurous quest thing... just liked it more for some reason... even though the battles was amazing in there others:D
 
Return of the King was crap! I was crying a the end, purely for the omissions. Jackson came so close to perfection and screwed it up. The ending went on forever and was totally saccharin. The Scouring of the Shire shall never be seen....
 
FOTR: Adventure, quickly, gripping, full of Hobbits hehe...
TTT: Battles, sounds and pics of honor and nobility of Rohirrim...
ROTK: Great 'FINALE', really gripping, emotional and the result of the great war 4 the Middle Earth...

These 3 instalments are something GREAT as a whole.
So, the Tolkien's trilogy and Jackson's movie(s) are something that I will never forget. Also, LOTR trilogy as book is on my second place (right behind the saga of George R. R. Martin: A Song of Ice and Fire), and the movies are the best as I ever seen.
 
i agree with Lacedaemonian on one thing:the ending was too damn long! i was at the cinema and just when it seemed it would end there would be another scene. dont get me wrong, i loved the movie but at the end i was thinking "when the hell is it going to end?" i think it could have been better if the movie ended at the coronation scene in minas tereth, (if it ended here i would have at least gone out of the theatre talking about the great scenes of the movie not just the "end" that seemed to go on forever)the rest was all meaningless and should have been put only in the extended version since as you said many of the good scenes like the scouring of the shire were not filmed
 
Hmm. When I went I went with an open mind for all three, having loved the books for a hell of a long time. Have to say that as with the books, ROTK was my personal favourite though all three had great parts. TTT least of all though
 
I definetly prefer FOTR. There are too many battles for my taste in the other two. Not that I dislike Golum performance, he was fantastic. But I love the Shire and the hobbits when they have no worries for the future and all the members of the Fellowship.
 
Well even though FOTR was a bit faithful to the book it did miss alot of cool stuff out for example. Tom Bombadil and the barrow wights. That was my fave part of the book.
 
Bombadil was a pain in the a$$.

Fellowship was the worst IMO, though it was still great.

I am a fight scene person and I think Return of the King was best, then TTT then FOTR.
 
I think that they were all great, but I liked ROTK (extended edition) the best. They added many scenes that tied things together better, and,of course, there was the drinking game. All three movie were wonderfully done, and I can't really pick "the best one".
