This yank needs Seasons 2, 3 &4 on R1 DVDs. I have Season 1 and I think that its great, but it's just the tip of the Iceberg(SP???). I need more.

Tuco, hello and welcome!

Tuco, hi!

The producers of the show seem to be slow in releasing the later season in the Canada and US Region.... Why I don't know. I keep checking in at amazon. com and mgm's sites for details and any other ones, such as ebay. All the other regions seem to be ahead of us in releases! But SG-! is coming to the Sci-Fi channel in 2002 and maybe something will joilt the producers loose before then... Here is hoping!

Hi Tuco.

A couple of options:

a) hope that they bring out R1 soon
b) get a mixed region player, or a PC player (since they are patchable even more easily) and get R2 (or other) discs. The whole of S2 and S3 are out, and S4 starts (four eps per DVD) in a couple of weeks
c) there is some website that has episodes downloadable.

BTW, you are lucky in one respect, the R2 DVDs for S1 only cover COTG , eps 19-21 (i.e. TBFTGOG, Politics and WTSG), plus bonus episodes Thors Hammer and Hathor at the end of S2.

That's so funny! I was just wondering the same thing. Season 1 has been out forever! Now I'm starting to itch for the rest of them!!

And we are itching for the other 2/3 of S1 too.

Any idea how to play US-style CC-subtitles? Our Europpean DVD players don't seem to be able to do it.

You US guys are sooooooooo lucky in the fact that S1 is available on DVD. In desperation for S1 I have had to buy on video because its not due out here in the UK till 'sometime' next year. Boohoo!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Thanks for all of your replies. Why is it that R1 seems to get the shaft when it comes to good DVDs?? R2 always seems to get better DVDs than us. Sci-Fi saved "Sliders", "Babylon5", "Lexx" and now they have saved the best of the best "Stargate SG1". Thank you Sci-Fi!!!

I don't know about "better" R2 stuff - R1 seems to get a great selection of titles with full extras several months ahead of R2 in some cases, if not years.

However, R2 tends to get more subtitles and/or languages.

Region 1 Seasons 2,3,4, etc.

I contacted MGM/UA via email and their reply was that they had no plans to release any seasons beyond the first -- which is really annoying since the last episode is in two parts, of which we who have purchased the DVDs have only the first. The email went on to say that my request would be forwarded to the marketing department.

That said, perhaps the MGM/UA marketing department should hear a great deal from Stargate's Region One fans and should see a sharp spike in sales of the first season tapes and DVDs.

"Dune" the movie. In R2 you can(or could) get the 4 hour version, in R1 you can only get the theatrical version. And then there are the R2 Seasons 2&3 of SG1.

MGM\UA is giving both R1 & R2 the shaft as far as StargateSG1 DVDs go. Everyone here should bombard them with E-mails, until they brake out with the DVDs that WE(the Fans!!) are willing to PAY($$$$ or POUNDS!!) for. There has to be at least 2000 people here who would E-mail MGM\UA, that might help (or at the very least make them take notice).

I agree - this is the stupidest part: there are masses of loyal and slightly insane fansa that will pay potentially large sums of cash for almost anything connected with the show. A mere twenty dollars/pounds or less for a DVD is pocket-money by comparison, and they could easily ship several thousand of each title.

So - MGM if you are reading: we would like to spend our money with you - but YOU are stopping us.

I agree! I am a fan of StarTrek(all), Farscape, Babylon5 and about four others. But none of them are as great as SG1 is. You can get almost every StarTrek on video(no DVDs-TOS) and the same goes for B5(DVDs are on the way). Lexx & Farscape are even getting their DVDs out at a better rate(Shows produced Vs. DVds 4 sale). I even have the first BattlestarGalactia DVD(I don't know if there are any more??), but MGM just can't seem to get the SG1 ball rolling. It's kind of funny. MGM has made DVDs of seasons 1-3, but not for both R1 & 2. Would it really be so hard to make the R1s that us yanks have and make them for the R2s(then just do the same in reverse). That way everyone would be happy. Or at the very least, the people here who care.

according to the sci-fi newsletter...

Region 1 Season 2 box will be released in September 2002.

that sucks a bit...many many many months to go...hope they change their minds about that.

R1 DVDs

Thanks for the info. Having waited this long I can manage until September. Here in the DC area the series has changed to another local station with neither warning nor fanfare. Probably a change for the better.

Could you let us know what their email address is please. Then we can ask them ourselves - more people in more countries adds more weight.

And this Reetou can add much weight to anything...

For those who didn't know, season two will be avalible in region 1 in september!
I was kind of disapointed at first 'cuz the wait is so long but hey, at least we are going to get it.

yes we know:), as posted before in this thread.
But thx for the reminder :)

Don't suppose this source of information has anything on the Region2 versions for most of season 1? [Only episodes 1, 8, 13, 19-21 are currently covered]

Anytime in the future for Season 1 to come out on Region 2 DVD. I got fed up of waiting and bought S1 in Region 1. Cost me £49.99 but worth it.

Yeah - that is my thought - if they don't bring it out soon I will just go for a US import...;)
