Before the books, before the TV series, before the proposed film, the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy began in 1978 as a BBC Radio 4 serial. It was 'the' thing to listen to, and is still better than it's other forums.

As a tribute to Douglas Adams, who died in May 2001, they are repeating it at 18:30 hrs Wednesdays, starting on 05/09/01.

Classic stuff..... absolutely cool

KEWL. That's really funny that is. I watched the documentry on it, and the eps also. But the radio shud be better (Originals always are!)

i will definitely try to catch this broadcast, I recently watched teh TV show in the beeb, I'd love to catch the original....

the 2st installment seemed to be 95% the same as the tv show. Can i expect the same each week?
That doesnt mean i didnt enjoy it though :D

As far as I remember the TV show (being made many years later) distilled out all the best bits. The radio series went on quite a while though, and some good bits never made the books or the TV series, but it is almost the same.

Best of all the radio series did not have Barbara Screeching Dickinson!

Her voice puts my teeth on edge like chalk on a blackboard!
