2.16 : Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered

After Cordelia dumps him, Xander convinces Amy to cast a love spell over her. But it doesn't turn out quite the way he expected.

ok - negative kudos to marti noxon (is there such a thing as negative kudos??) -- for extreme underuse of VAMPIRES in this episode --

now, while the 'Xander being chased by the female population of Sunnydale' was amusing -- but, the vamps needed to get out and play -- and um -- all that stuff about what Angelus did on Valentine's Day -- and then NO follow up?? ok - yeah - sure, he TRIED (very unsuccessfully) to 'hurt' Buffy - but it was very lame -- Dru kicked Angel's a$$? um - huh?? thought Angelus was pretty buff - strong - built - ya know? and Dru comes along and just tosses him like a twig? grrrr

yeah - okay - Spike's in a wheelchair, and Dru's rather taken w/ Angelus while he's bad, but is that any reason to severely limit their airtime?? grrrrr argh!

all-in-all, though, the ep was good, and funny, but that character usage thing gets me every time ------

As far as character usage, I think it's all a matter of perspective. With such a large cast, it would nigh on impossible to feature them all in every episode. ;)

As for Dru throwing Angel ... Buffy has and she's a lot smaller than Dru. :D I don't know if insane vamps get the same benefits as insane humans do as far as unusual strength, but if they do maybe that's why Dru was able to pummel Angel so well.
Another :D.

Hat's off to Oz for being a perfect gentlemen upon finding a in the buff Buffy. He turned off his flashlight as soon as he realized what he was seeing and turned his head, keeping it turned until he left.

Cheers,

yeah - i understand that the cast is so large - but, honestly, wouldn't the episode have worked better if they had just used Angelus and left Spike and Dru out of it? ('cept that Dru helps Xander, so that might not work so well) ---

but - i don't know - guess it could have been thought out better

and ok - now i get it about Dru - guess i just didn't pay much attn to Buffy throwing Angel around ---

and oh yeah -- 'hat's off' to Oz - he's quite the gentleman -- tho, he could have offered Buffy his extra shirt -- would have helped some ----

I watched this ep and realized somewhere in there I'd seen the last ten minutes of it before.

Makes a lot more sense now. :)

Hmmm....yeah, you _would_ think there woulda been more carnage from Angelus with all the "foreshadowing" they did on it. *sigh*

And I liked at the end when cordy told harmony to shut up. *snerks*

really, w/ all that was said abt Angelus and what he had done -- i mean, i kind of like the idea of 'not' having Angelus do something - but if that was the case, they should have had Buffy doing much more preparation for Angelus to actually "do" something --

focus on Xander is okay - i'm not against it - but, if you're gonna stick all these ppl in the show - use them - otherwise, leave them out - it's not worth it to toss them in for 2 seconds --

and Cordy telling Harmony to shut up was VERY funny! ;)

watched this one again today... def one of the funniest episodes...

And also contains perhaps one of my fave scenes of all Buffy... the Buffy in a jacket and not much else seduction of Xander

Not sure which freaked Xander out more, Dru or Joyce hitting on him

well-- -which would freak *you* out more??

just out of my odd sense of curiosity!

well if Dru had her normal face on then that wouldn't be too bad, so Joyce would freak me more... but Dru in vamp face...that would be scary...

dru is a bit scary in vamp face --

why are some of the characters vamp faces 'cooler' than others?

like - i don't mike Angel's or Spike's (and it's not just b/c they're guys) but Darla and Dru - they look weird --- Darla less so, but still
