Hello.... this is your exhausted reporter....
Sept 22, Gatecon Day 4: Wow! The line-ups to the front row seats started at 7:30! And I got there at 8:30. The panels are supposed to start at 9:00! Ahem, the first panel consisted of Tony Amendola, Don S Davis and Eric Avari. Three delightful gentlemen with delightful anecdotes of their careers during and before Stargate. Then a surprise visit from Amanda Tapping.... who spent almost an hour with us! (On her anniversary weekend, no less!) She's funny and gracious; we had loads of laughs when JR Bourne showed up to campaign for the return of Martouf. The morning was completed with a panel of gentlemen who are the stand-ins for Messrs RDA (who has two stand-ins!), C Judge and M Shanks.

After lunch, the first panel consisted of Peter Williams and Alexis Cruz. The finale was Teryl Rothery, who received many gifts and tributes from her fans... lots of "turtle-related" souvenirs. (And I can't remember if we had the combo of JR and J Avacone in the morning or the afternoon..... my memory of Day 4 is fuzzy, but I'm going to check my photos or someone can correct me! I should have made notes! But I was too busy with my camera and laughing! )

And a highlight was a directors panel with Martin Wood, Peter Deluise, Andy Mikita, William Gereghty and Peter Woeste. We had a blast as they decribed what really happened during the production of certain episodes like "Wormhole X-treme".

After the dinner break was the costume judging. There were lots of terrific outfits! The winner was a Nem-lookalike complete with latex head mask. It looked pretty authentic to me! Runners up included a lovely Hathor and a Sam in Air Force uniform and another Sam in "that dress" from Emancipation.

Then on to the charity auction. About $45,000 Canadian was raised for "Make a Wish Foundation". All the actors (except AT) were present as auctioneers or models for the auction items. My favourite part was a certain "general" in Hathor's wig!!!! Boy, can that man blush! I hope someone posts a picture of it!!! Auction items included posters, autographed pictures from the SG-1 cast, Stargate SG-1 trading cards, DVDs, director's chairs belonging to CJ and AT, props (Hathor's wig worn by Suanne Braun, alien guns, goa'uld control devices, THE CRYSTAL SKULL, etc), clothing (autographed hats, t-shirts, jackets and pants) and a Gatecon autographed quilt.

Sounds like fun going on there.....

Good grief - how much did the Crystal Skull end up going for?

Cry$tal $kull...

$2,000.00 USD

WOW!!!

There was quite a big fight over it, too!!! I mean very heated and heavy bidding. It was one of six made by the props dept for the episode. They hired 4 extra people for a week to polish the skulls to perfection! What attention to detail!!!

Hey Xst:
How jack's jacket and how did your friends enjoy the tour?

The jacket is great! Just a little long in the sleeves. And I haven't heard from Judy and Kevin about the on location tour yet. Glad to know that you got home safely!

Hi Shortea,

I'm getting my film developed. I'll send you a copy of me in "the jacket" and "the hat". And I think there is one of me with "the hat, the jacket and the skull"!!!

I'm home now. I checked out of the hotel on Sunday afternoon. I was totally exhausted by Sunday evening! So much had happened and I had lots of fun! It was great meeting you and other fans.

now xst did you tell everyone what ELSE you did to get that jacket? i mean i htink i have pics.... ;)

i need to drop my film off but i should have pics of hammy in the wig and the auction fun.

shirtless jr, apophis and...who else divested? so much cute skin exposed

it was great fun.

It was very funny.
I was sitting next to xst when she bid
on both items. With the Jacket it was fun watching Jay
running around the room , hanging on to xst wearing RDA's
jacket,
With Jr on the mike telling him where to run next.
And then to watching
what xst did to get that Jacket, I'm still
laughing. All I can say is that
I can't wait for next year.

Meeting all of you was fun too,
and I do hope to see all agained next year.

Hi Skydiver & Cynvision!

shortea!!! hi!!!

ooh yeah that auction...well rumor has it that allan is talking about releasing an unedited version...and folks let me tell you it's a scream!

and i'll have to wait until sat but....i THINK i have a pic of alexis cruzs bvd's...and i know apophis' chest, along with jr bourne...and xst what can i say but...need a toothpick!!!! ;)

It sounds like great fun! xst... we are going to see just why you nned that toothpick! Did you get a close up Skydiver!

THAT WAS MY TWIN SISTER!!!!

Well.... actually....... it was me. I can't deny it. Shortea was sitting next to me, so I can't deny it. But don't let anybody know......... Ssssshhhhh!

And it was fun. It was fun then and, on retrospect, it was fun. I didn't know I had it in me!!!:p :p :p :D :D :D

At the autograph session on Sunday, I asked both JR and Jay if they had any problems with <ahem!> "the stunt". Both said, "No". I felt a little goofy at the time!!  'Nuf said.

And Eric Avari confessed that he was the one who suggested "the stunt". So I gave him a shocked look.

I have a terrific shot of DSD in his wig! It's precious!

i'm hoping my shots come out....hammy in a wig. priceless. if i'd had hte moolah i would have bought it just for that reason.
at least your 'stunt' wasn't quite as interesting as robin's...i swear alexis cruz has to have a complex about cons right about now ;)

That whole night was priceless.
Next year they should give Doc Frazer Tennis
shoes, and give bottle water to everyone
for when they run around the room.

Hey Skydiver:
I saw Alexis's dvds briefly, so if you do get
a picture of them could you send a copy to me?
I will pay you for them.

Shortea

I wish I could've been there:cool:  Do they ever screen the "blooper" tapes from the show?? I love watching that stuff:D :D :D

shortea i will happily post it for all to share...and even send you a hard copy if you want one...i should know sat pm if they came out, missed the drop off wednesday so the film didnt' go out until today.

last year i heard they edited the auction video, but this year allan was talking about releasing an unedited one...i mean it really wasn't THAT bad...no swearing or real nudity(not that you wouldnt' see on tv anyway) just racey...and hilarious.

i think i can upload images to the images part of this forum...can't I? i dont' have a web page but will gladly upload some good shots for those of you that want them
