in tng episode "Interface", it is learned that the u.s.s. hera, which is commanded by geordi's mother, has disappeared without a trace, and has essentially been given up for lost. i'm not 100% sure about this but, i think the hera was lost in the badlands just like voyager.
even if the hera was or wasn't lost in the badlands, i still think it would have been nice to see the mystery of geordi's moms disappearance solved.

i believe this to be a missed opportunity.

has anyone else thought of this????

was it the badlands? I haven't seen that eppy for a while. Assuming it was, then I guess they could have turned up, perhaps in the place of the *argh forgot its name* (capt Ransom).

Was it the Badlands?

Was it the Badlands? I'm not sure they ever said that.

I actually thought that it was lost in the fire atmoshere planet the same as the science vessel Raman but reviewing it again now, it was only Geordi who thought that. They only say that it has been lost for six days.

OT: Don't Starfleet give up on the USS Hera quickly (6 days). The USS Enterprise was stuck in that temporal causality loop in Cause and Effect for seventeen days. Were they listed as lost as well?

I would like the real reason explained. In TOS it seemed that a whole string of early ships were lost without trace, but by TNG I thought that they would be more careful with their property.

They gave up too early... i mean 6 days
