As you know I havent seen Endgame, but whatever happened there I dont think Lambert should do any more Highlander stuff.
Why?
Cos hes looking too old now, esp in the images I've seen of him with long hair tied back, looking v old and tired, not at all like his immortal self..

Not gonna be a popular choice with the ladies here i know, but we're left with Mr Paul....

first, markpud, your thread title almost incited a riot! hehe --

and Lambert hasn't looked too terrible to me -- he was in Beowulf which was rather recent - and he didn't look too bad --

He looked terrible in Endgame, but my feelings are, that was the make-up dept being ridiculous - trying to make him look really old - he looked bad - I hated it -- he's supposed to be immortal - the make-up dept should have tried to make him look like the Connor from the 1st movie -- I mean, I understand that one cannot cease the aging process, but the make-up people can make him look like he should, instead of just slapping on some pancake and throwing him on screen --- argh!


and we're NOT stuck w/ Adrian Paul --- Peter Wingfield is still around!! he's not old! and Methos will forever be the most popular of the immies! and not just b/c he's 5000 yrs old!!

bye bye Duncan!! There can be only one! And it will be METHOS!!

did i tell you that, at one time, i was working on a story where Methos takes Duncan's head? i have to alter some pieces of it - and then finish it -- but yeah - was working on it ---

got other projects in the works at the moment, but maybe someday ----

in my universe? well - in my universe, Connor's not dead, so there's no need for Methos to be the last one --

but, if there is a universe where Connor is dead, then well, Methos will be the last --

esp if I have anything to say about it!!

wonder if DPP realizes that if they get rid of Methos through nefarious means that there will be one hell of a lynch mob and the Highlander universe will cease to exist in all its glory -- and, there will, of course, be a Methos Denial clan that shoots up like a beacon into the sky --- b/c METHOS CANNOT DIE!!

I always find it interesting how many people don't like Duncan. He kept the "Highlander" franchise and mystique going since the first movie (cause if it had been up to the second and third movie, the franchise would have died years ago). Duncan and Connor are the Highlanders and Connor died in Endgame, so...

I liked Endgame, although I was sad when Connor died. The truth is, Mr. Lambert wanted out and so, the only way they could do it was kill Connor off. If he had lived on, the fans would always want him as he WAS the first Highlander. Mr. Lambert is getting older and he hasn't aged as graciously as Adrian Paul. He was never as solid a swordsman, and now his poor vision has made his sword play on the dangerous side.

Methos was a great character, but he isn't the Highlander. His character was a wonderful addition to the series but I am not sure that I would have been satisfied with him as the lead for six years. I think we needed a Highlander and Duncan was a great hero. Adrian Paul's Duncan MacLeod was so well played and offered us all a glimpse into a fantasy world that we couldn't have had without the TV Series, and certainly not without Duncan and Adrian Paul.

Mr. Paul is a talented actor. His skills with the sword and martial arts made him a credible hero. I don't know if we would be having this discussion without Duncan. So for that I am grateful.

I am proably going to get slammed for this also (especially by
h2 ) but I agree with hpt.

Wheather we want to admit it or not Adrian Paul is the Highlander and Methos is just one of the characters in the show. His presence did not make or break the show. If his character did not show up, the show would still be popular.

The show still was strong even after Tessa and Richie's deaths.

Conner and Duncan will always be the Highlanders.

ok - no - i'm not gonna slam ppl for saying the like AP or Duncan -

my biggest problem is that (and i recently sorta discovered this) Panzer and friends have this belief that Duncan is the ONLY popular character - and it's just not so---

Methos is very popular --

and i do agree that if you're gonna call the show "Highlander" then there should be one --- which is partly why Raven didn't work - Amanda wasn't a Highlander -- (and Elizabeth isn't that strong as a main character)

personally - i don't think Adrian's that great an actor - he's good w/ martial arts and swords and such - but he doesn't have the style and talent of Peter Wingfield --

i liked Duncan for a while -- it wasn't until late in season 4 that i didn't like him so much - b/c they changed his character --- he become someone else -- Duncan MacLeod that we knew from seasons 1-3 didn't exist anymore ---

Methos, for me, helped keep the series interesting after this point - until season 6 when it all went downhill

Endgame -- sore spot -- i don't like this movie for a few reasons -
1 - Connor dies - he's my fave character - and he's dead - hate that; 2) - it was written poorly - didn't follow any canon from the series and had a boring, recycled plot - 3) - the screen time wasn't distributed evenly --

this movie was a lot like Generations in the ST realm -- one of those 'bridge' movies to move along -- and it worked about as well ---

so - i don't HATE Duncan -- i pick on him, yes, but i don't hate him - we did get a good series b/c of him -- but it was all based, initially on Greg Widen's vision -- so HE gets the credit -- not Duncan ---- (IMO) ---

personally - i just like Methos better - he's a more colorful character w/ an interesting past, and honestly - i like amanda - but not the amanda from Raven - the one from HL the series -

and - everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion ---

you and i have had this discussion before and it seemed (in the post) that ppl were saying that methos was the only character that made highlander what is was--is
don't give up on us we are not trying to change your mind about methos (like that's possible )

Methos, for me, brought the series back from the dulldrum it had slinked into - the story-lines were kinda weak and the writers seemed to be having problems keeping things interesting --

the writers never properly used Richie or Tessa; they were always in the background, used for frills or something --
and the storylines about them were boring --


i loved the show - until season 6 - but something happened that turned Duncan into this boyscout or something --- and he wasn't the same -

and - yeah - we're kinda Methos-centric --- we're from the Methos Addicts Public group - what do you expect??? so, sure - much of our conversation centers on Methos - and yeah, we pick on Duncan -- similar stuff happens in other fandoms -- it's not unique to this one ---- lots of characters get 'whumped' ---
