Our most exotic character, the Doctor is an eccentric alien with an oblique sense of humour that no one quite understands. Because he speaks with an accent, and isn't familiar with Earth cultures, there are many humorous misunderstandings. Phlox thinks that humanity is fascinating - the complex sexual mores (his species reproduces asexually), social customs... oh my, what wonderful creatures!

To say the Doctor has made himself 'at home' on the Enterprise is putting it mildly. He's filled Sickbay with all sorts of bizarre medical instruments, alien plants and spores, and stasis chambers filled with small, living creatures. He practices a brand of 'intergalactic medicine' the likes of which we've never seen. This makes the most routine visit to Sickbay an unexpected adventure...

Phlox is an asexual alien medic positively intrigued by humans, who uses all manner of treatments to cure his human patients. His real age is uncertain, and he keeps strange little critters in his sick bay.

"[Phlox has] a tremendous amount of ease," John Billingsley revealved. "this guy is not frightened by anything. He's certainly willing to face whatever comes with a kind of a blithe stoicism, if that's not an oxymoron. I was part of the Vulcan Interspecies Medical programme... I am on Earth. The Vulcans have presumably sent me there to watch over things a bit on the medical side. When the crisis erupts that precipitates the action in the first episode, I'm pressed into service as the ship's physician."

Do we know what his species is ??

Dr. Phlox to be Trisexual?

Enterprise stars Dominic Keating (Lt. Malcolm Reed) and John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) attended Creation Entertainment's Salute to Star Trek, Andromeda and Farscape on April 6.

According to a convention report at Trek5.COM the two were asked about their misadventures in the upcoming Risa pleasure planet episode, 1x25 'Two Days and Two Nights'. Dominic broke into a thick cockney accent joking, "We just got back from Risa, mate! Just gettin the photos developed as we speak!"
Billingsley chides jokingly, "You'll be surprised to hear that many Enterprise cast members end up in their underwear on Risa. But not me. I'm the only Enterprise actor who hasn't been in their underwear yet this season." Dominic pounced, "and that'll never happen."

Dominic Keating also recalled April Fools Day events on set: "The other day was April Fools Day," Dominic said, "and we'd discovered that years and years ago, Scott Bakula had done this, well, musical dance commercial for Canada Dry Ginger Ale. So we found a copy of the ad and managed to get it put up on the Bridge view screens when Scott wasn't there. We all had Canada Dry cans and when Scott came through the bridge doors for his scene, we all broke out into this 'GOIN' BACK TO CANADA DRY' song and dance!" Dominic broke out into his best Moulin Rouge dance imitation.

When asked about the persistant rumor that one of the characters might turn out to be gay — possibly Malcolm Reed — Dominic said, "I don't think so."

Billingsley added, "There is a rumor that Phlox may be trisexual. That word is on Brannon Braga's schematic chalkboard in his office. I saw it — big letters — trisexual, with a question mark after it."

In the full report, the two talk about their favourite episodes so far and Billingsley talks about being cast on the series and about a possible spinoff series.

You missed the best part of that interview:

"Has Enterprise changed our life?" John was asked. "Yes, we both just bought a house." he answered. Catching himself, "Not together, we each bought our own houses." Dominic added, "yes when I get back from London this spring, I'm pretty much going to be hanging out at IKEA all summer."

Also, I think Dr. Phlox has been established as a Denobian and has three wives back at home.

Did you see 'Dr Phlox's' appearance on one of the episodes of Roswell which aired on Sky One last week? He appeared out of make-up along with Jonathan Frakes. He(Max) was auditioning for an alien part. They got Dr Phlox to say a few lines. Was quite funny.

John Billingsly was also on a recent episode of Stargate.

It was so funny, I was sitting there watching the episode and when they showed him for the first time I sat up on the edge of my chair and shouted "Dr. Phlox!"

I then called my parents who were watching the ep also, cause Phlox is my dad's favorite character. When I got my mom on the phone she said that as soon as the phone rang she knew it was me cause they had recognized him too.:D

I really like Dr Phlox, he's really fun to watch, and has the funniest lines... I like how T'Pol talks to him, like a close friend.

T'Pol hasn't got a lot of choice has she?

Phlox is, to her, the least odd member of the crew.

Re: Smelly

Don't look at his feet though. He has toenails that need to be cut two or three times a week

He has 3 wives, who have 2 husbands each. That’s 120 relationships, 42 romantic opportunities, and 31 individuals in the extended family. He has two daughters – a Surgeon and a Biochemist, and three sons – one is a Potter who lives in the same town as his mother, the other two don’t see eye to eye with him and don’t speak.[A Night in Sickbay]

what do you suppose "trisexually" entails? male, female, &?

I like Dr. P's wife...well the one we met...who knows what the other is like...

Hehe!!!! Hadn't thought of that Skoon.

I cringed when I saw his toenails. Ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!
