What if Janeway and her crew decided that they DIDN'T want to come home?

It could have made for an interesting season arc. Janeway and crew decide that the Delta Quadrant is just too interesting for them to come back home - so they decide to stay.

Are you so sure they did?

Okay the demise of Chakotay and 7 of 9 and Tuvok going potty gave Janeway an excuse to change history, but only after adding 20x20 hindsight.

There a group of fan-fiction writers currently writing a Season 8 series. If I can find the URL I'll post it.

Is this the one your looking for Star Trek Voyager Virtual Season 8.
I wouldn't think that they would want to stay in the Delta quad without at least going home to the alpha for a short while to see they're families. Plus getting home is the main premise of the show, it just wouldn't fit.

But, what about back in Season 2, (The '37's) when they still thought it would take them 70 years to get back home. Wouldn't you rather just settle on an Earth-like M-class planet with other humans. You could still search for worm-holes from there. Better than a life-time on a starship.

I don't think any of the starfleet would want to settle down, I think that if they wanted to settle down they wouldn't have joined and accepted a position on a starship. And me personally I'd choose the starship, if my friends and family were across the galaxy. Also how many wormholes are you going to find in a small area of space.

Not everyone is a career officer, they sign on for a five year mission or whatever. The Maquis don't want to serve on Voyager or in Starfleet. Wildman didn't know she was pregnant, is a Starship the place to raise your children? 70 years is a long time. We knew that they would get home, but they could not know.

Yeah your right there, but no matter how many wanted to stay there would always be a few that wouldn't. That would of made a great episode with the crew divided over whether to stay or keep going.

I thought that at the time I watched "the '37's". In their rush to wrap the story all up in the last 5 minutes, they wasted a really good moral dilemma that could have lasted several episodes.

Yer your right.... Janeway did give the crew the choice but was such a short dilemma as they only had five mins left of the show... AS dave said could of gone on a bit longer....
