VERY good looking. Gives us Arkansans are reason to stand up and cheer! (As long as he doens't have relations with his intern...did I say that...ooops! ) :laugh2:
 
Does he have to be? I mean, if he IS the one who is replacing MS, then surely we should all be trying to accept him for who HE is, not for whether he is better or worse than MS. Each new actor to a show will bring something different to it. Perhaps we should be be looking at it from the point of view of him as a totally different character and not as someone who will reprise the Daniel character in some way.

I'm also not sure what him being handsome has to do with anything. A good actor is someone who can make you believe in the character and not rely on a pretty face to carry him through.

This poor bugger doesn't stand a chance no matter how handsome or how good an actor he is.

when i meant better i meant will he be more accepted than MS? i mean, youve got to admit its gotta be hard for the poor bloke to have to follow MS, I only hope that the fans take to him as well as they did to MS!

And not being rude here, but, MS doesnt have to be so off about the new character taking his place in SG1, i mean, it was his decision to leave, so why is he being so off?? theres no need for that is there?

Was MS rude about him? I haven't read anything which indicated that....

As for being accepted. I for one will accept whoever is put in the role as a replacement for Daniel. I take all of them at face value anyway. However, I guess with many of the Daniel fans he will have to fill some large shoes, if indeed he IS the replacement, but I haven't seen anything which states, categorically, that he is.

As for the MS fans... well, I imagine most of them may probably only watch the show out of interest to see who it is that's going to replace him.

I don't know who this Corin Nemec person is..... I saw the adaptation of The Stand and vaguely recall his face, but to be honest, although he's a pleasant enough looking lad, he doesn't make my jaw drop. I also wonder why they think anyone would be interested in him being a Scientologist. Does this make him any more special than a Jew, a Hindu or a Catholic? I mean, you don't read stuff about MS, RDA, CJ or AT and have their religious beliefs tacked on the end of it do you? What possible relevance can this have to with anything? It's only relevant to him personally.

I am constantly puzzled by the tidbits that get thrown out in the publicity wheel..... I always read them and think, "okay, now go tell someone who gives a damn"!

Good grief! What in the world is wrong here? This is just a harmless thread bringing us up to date on who will try to fill the gap when Michael leaves. Why analyze it to pieces?

Nobody was saying anything akin to him 'reprising' the role, that's impossible, IMHO. But, it sure helps that the guy stepping up to the plate is nice to look at.
 
What's wrong with a discussion? Why start a thread if you don't want to discuss the issues therein? Surely by beginning the thread you're inviting discussion of some kind?

And in spite of what you are saying, the way many of the fans are talking, they are half expecting him to reprise the role. You personally might not be, but many are.

And it helps if he's convincing as an actor when he steps up to the plate. Being goodlooking alone wouldn't necessarily help now would it if he ended up falling flat on his face as an actor?

I may be totally wrong, but I thought these forums were for discussing things as well as making harmless comments about whether or not someone has nice lips or a nice body.

Is there some unspoken rule here that if someone wants to make a serious comment they're not supposed to?

Just because someone is a moderator doesn't mean that they aren't allowed to post an opinion. But even moderators don't particularly like being attacked and can react badly.

All I did was try to answer Spike's Mine in the first place when she commented on MS being rude, and if someone posts a link, they obviously are suggesting that you go to it and read it. So I did, and posted my comments.

As for the eye rolling, well.... the smilies are put there for a reason and I am sure that you have used them before yourself as has everyone else on these forums. I don't think using them has anything to do with maturity or a lack of. It wasn't very mature of you to react the way you did to a relatively innocent posting of mine either now, was it? We all have different opinions, I was just stating mine and I certainly didn't expect to be attacked by any of you for posting it, whether I sucked the life out of the thread or not.

I'm not a drooler.... and I can't just do that over the picture of some guy who may or may not be MS replacement in the show. I apologise if my lack of being unable to drool upsets you in any way, but I can't change who I am.

Post what you like, as long as you don't flame or unduly insult other people on the thread. I shan't post again on it, but I will, of course, have to come here from time to time as a moderator should.
 
from what i heard MS is actually very sympathetic about TNG. at one of the cons he said that the guy was only signed on for 3-4 eps. and MS knows that he has a large fan contingent who are most strident in their beliefs.
basically TNG is going to walk onto a set where, for the most part, everyone has been working together for years, he's only signed on for a few eps (and look at what happened to anise), and he's replacing a very popular character. and no matter how good he is, the most he's likely to get is a year's worth of work if current plans for teh movie continue with MS.

now i'm not saying they're not nice on the set, everything i've heard is that the SG set is one of the friendilest around. it's just gonna be tough.

me personally, i'm looking forward to him. people have bemoaned the lack of interpersonal relationships and plot development of late....breaking in a new guy is one way to stir the pot a little and have a chance to see the other side of the characters.

there will be the few who will refuse to accept him but i think over all that a majority of the fans will at least give him a chance

Thanks for the tidbit link at the top of the thread, I'm not too good at finding news and gossip on my own so I appreaciate it when I get handy little links like that :D.
I agree with the general consensus expressed here, I'm looking forward to the new guy (whoever he may be), so long as he's a quality actor, I feel a bit of fresh blood can only enhance the show and expand the possibilties, characters and storylines. I'm a little sad to see MS go, but if his hearts not in it anymore then I wish him well and hope that his future and SG1's are both gonna improve.
Although it's not essential for the new guy to be pleasing eye candy, I ain't gonna complain if he is. I only hope that he doesn't get involved with Carter, cos we all know what happens to her men. :dead: :eek:

LOL, no doubt!! We at least want him to make it through next season!! :D I never thought about Sam's kiss of death!

......on the subject of the Major Of Death; I realised that there are still 2 men she really cares about that are still alive and was about to revise my opinion until I read thru The Summit epi thread, now I'm even more convinced. So many of her "love interests" have been bumped off, I'm beginning to think she's an Ashrak.
