Stargate Defender!

I don't know if anyone here has been reading the TV week lately, but a few weeks ago in the December 8th issue I was suprised to see a (very rare!) letter concerning our favorite series in the letters page. A reader of the magazine, who identified himself as Shane, wrote in to express his opinion on the comparison between the Stargate movie and the series. He claimed he was a great fan of the movie, but thought that the series "did no justice" to the movie and its intended purpose, and basically said a whole lot of negative things about the producers, writes and cast of Stargate SG1.

I had been intending to email a response to this letter but however had never gotten around to it, but this morning whilst reading the TV week I came across another stargate related letter. The author of the letter was somebody called Trisha from QLD, and she responded to Shane's letter in true SG fan style. And she did far more rationally and camly then what I would have written.

here it is.

STARGATE: BETTER THAN THE MOVIE

I am responding to Shane's letter, which was published in your December 8th issue.
He said the film Stargate is one of his favorites and he was disappointed by the TV series which is based on it, called Stargate SG-1.
I also like the film, but I think the TV producers have made the show far more exciting. I have seen Star Trek TV series and can't say that one is better than the other, but Stargate SG1 is.

i read an article in the TV guide out of the sunday mail a few weeks back about the return of stargate, quite short but all positive comments.

I think stargate is starting to become big with the return of it in some states and maybe the second film being filmed here. We should get heaps more neat stuff like this soon

basically if it has anything to do with stargate, it goes in the main section whereas if its anything else that has no relation to stargate then its in chit chat
