Isn't it possible for an adult Goa'uld to leave it's Jaffa's pouch, and take the Jaffa over as a host?

Why haven't the Goa'uld come up with an Iris of their own? They like to steal technology, and the Iris has been a relatively good defense, so why don't they just make one-incidentally, why doesn't the SGC just put one on each planet they plan to return to? I know the Goa'uld could simply return via ship, but it's slow them down, right?

Are there ever any redundant Stargate addresses- IE: the third symbol and the fifth symbol being the same, for example?

1. No. An adult goa'uld can't live in a pouch it has to take over a host. And yes if no suitable host was avaliable it would take over the Jaffa it had matured in.

2. Probably because of the organisation required. They travel from planet to planet all the time. Sorting out iris codes etc would be a nightmare logistically. It would also require Jaffa to use technology. They don't let the Jaffa use these sort of things, remember the Goa'uld use technology to show they are Gods. Secondly, a Goa'uld would only go through a stargate when they know it is safe. Sending through a few Jaffa to check it out is hardly much work.

3. Ethics I guess. Who knows who is going to go through the stargate. Hardly fair to kill them in case they *might* be a Goa'uld. Secondly, logistics of doing so. Dial home devices needed again or a way to deactivate it. What if it goes wrong and SGC can't get there to fix it etc.

4. No idea.

i wouldn't have thought so, coz they are four dimensional co-ordinates. not sure what that means, but it sounds clever, don't it? :eek4:
