After scoring some of UPN's best ratings in years, Enterprise has continued its success on the other side of the Atlantic, attracting large audiences in the United Kingdom.
The pilot episode 'Broken Bow' was watched by 1.2 million people on its January 7 debut, according to The Guardian. This was reportedly the highest premiere ever for a freshman series on a multichannel service.
A week later on January 14 the series continued to attract viewers, with 1 million people tuning in to watch 'Fight or Flight'.
These are promising figures for Enterprise, which airs on cable and satellite channel Sky One and hence is only seen by a small percentage of the population. The channel has a strong track record with genre audiences - last year the final Voyager episode 'Endgame' attracted 1.33 million viewers, and series such as Stargate SG-1 and Buffy The Vampire Slayer often number among the channel's top ten shows.
British fans who do not subscribe to Sky One will have a chance to see the series on Channel 4 later in the year. The BBC holds the terrestrial rights to screen all the other Trek series, but lost Enterprise to Channel 4 during a bidding war last year.
