After scoring some of UPN's best ratings in years, Enterprise has continued its success on the other side of the Atlantic, attracting large audiences in the United Kingdom.

The pilot episode 'Broken Bow' was watched by 1.2 million people on its January 7 debut, according to The Guardian. This was reportedly the highest premiere ever for a freshman series on a multichannel service.

A week later on January 14 the series continued to attract viewers, with 1 million people tuning in to watch 'Fight or Flight'.

These are promising figures for Enterprise, which airs on cable and satellite channel Sky One and hence is only seen by a small percentage of the population. The channel has a strong track record with genre audiences - last year the final Voyager episode 'Endgame' attracted 1.33 million viewers, and series such as Stargate SG-1 and Buffy The Vampire Slayer often number among the channel's top ten shows.

British fans who do not subscribe to Sky One will have a chance to see the series on Channel 4 later in the year. The BBC holds the terrestrial rights to screen all the other Trek series, but lost Enterprise to Channel 4 during a bidding war last year.

I read this too. Two points to make:

1) 'Endgame', the final episode of Voyager was watched by 1.33 Million. Even though it was shown in the middle of the Summer Vacation. So, in comparison 1.2 Million for this long awaited new show is probably less than Sky would have hoped for.

2) This biddings war by the BBC and other channels: The BBC claim there was no biddings war, that they just sat and waited to be approached, but no one approached them. I smell something is not right here, everyone cannot be telling the truth.

BBC are launching a further 20 + ish digital channels within the next few years... MAybe they spending the money and effort on those ????????

Not if you examine the content closely: 'Ceebiees' channel - Tellytubbies, Tweenies and Flowerpot men repeats. 'House/Garden SOS DIY ground forced' channel, 'Death by cookery programmes' channel, and 'The Weakest coundown who wants to be a fifteen to one Link' channel.

They recently launched another kids channel... 'Bugs' i think it is called... not sure though...

Seems like Kids channels is the future...
