Episode Title: 'Oasis'

Tom Bergeron announced his appearance in the episode during the 'Bob & Tom Show'. Bergeron said he will be playing an alien trader called "Damar," or something similar. His character will feature full make-up and a head cast, something that quite excited Bergeron. He said he would be appearing in the opening scene of the episode, in which we would interact with Captain Archer and "the lovely T'Pol."

1. René Auberjonois played the part of 'Odo' in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. This marks the second time a regular cast member from any of the Star Trek series will appear on ENTERPRISE.

2. Tom Bergeron is the tv host of American tv shows such as Hollywood Squares and America's Funniest Home Videos and has appeared as himself in an episode of 'The Nanny.

3. The episode was originally thought to be entitled 'Osmosis,' it appears that listeners to Tom's announcement during the Bob & Tom Show, a daily radio show hosted by Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold in the U.S. misheard the episode title.

okay - this episode was just on on Wednesday - (i watched it last nite - taped it - but missed the 1st 8 mins or so) --

anyway --- this was an interesting episode -- (even tho i'm not sure what attracted Ent to this place b/c i missed the beginning) -

the one thing that i don't understand, is why none of the characters commented when their weapons fired and passed right through the 'inhabitants' -- did they think it was a fluke? what did they think of this? or were they not paying attention? i mean, i know Reed was hit early on, but did Archer and everyone else just NOT see where they were firing?

i just thought that was a little odd.

a bit predictable too - when they wanted Trip to fix the computer center, then Rene's character told his daughter that she wasn't to tell them anything -- then they find that the ship had been there a lot longer than 3 years -- knew what they were gonna say -- holographic images --

umm - didn't DS9 already do this? that whole society that was holograms?

this episode seemed a little disjointed in places - like it couldn't decide if it was going to be about Trip and him liking this girl, or her liking him, or about the ppl on the planet and their 'story' that didn't jive --- i understand multiple storlines, but this was just odd -

one more question - why does there always have to be one character who always attracts all the female attn? that is SO cliche it's not funny -- can't we have one series where some of the other characters are involved in things? don't even the writers get tired of the 'same old same old'?? <sigh>

I realized that too when T'Pol made the reference to the reptile looking woman from one of the previous episodes(the one where Trip gets pregnant). Is he gonna be the one that gets all the chicks? What about Archer or Reed, they're both pretty sexy :D

I also thought it was strange that they didn't realize they were firing through the people on the ship.

Oh H2, I don't know if you've rewatch it or not but they were attracted to the ship because they were told that it had lots of dilithium(sp?) and other supplies that they needed on it and they were also told it was haunted. That's why it hadn't been pillaged yet.
:blpaw:

ahh - the allure of a haunted house ---

why are ppl on tv always drawn to the one place that's haunted?

btw - were there any skeptics on the Enterprise? anyone who said - 'there's no such thing as ghosts'? (missed the beginning, remember) -- and if so - who?

just curious -

and the allure of 'stuff' is also good -- on a long trip - you pick up stuff as you go -- well, at least MacGyver always did! ;)

T'Pol was the scepitc, but I expected that. Fear, after all, is an emotion. Mayweather wanted to tell ghost stories to Archer(I think it was Archer)

ya know - sometimes missing the beginning really mucks up the whole story --

guess i'll have to try to catch this one on the rerun - it was good -

Missing the beginning sometimes does tend to spoil it.. I find anyway

I liked this, but it was hardly very original. Isn't it almost exactly the same story as 'Shadowplay' DS9. And Voyager did these Photonic / Holographic stories to death. Not to mention 'Future Imperfect' TNG, 'The Survivors' TNG, and 'What are Little Girls Made Of?' TOS.

It wasn't even much of a mystery. I had my suspicions from the very start, but once they mentioned that they must repair the Xyrillian-like computer equipment, it must have been obvious that they were holograms to anyone paying attention.

I also wondered where Liana learned to kiss. She's been stuck for 22 years on a ship of holographic adults.

Perhaps 'kissing' was additional Daddy's Programming?

This is the third in a row that I have been left with the feeling it was 'Just a Trek' afterwards. It was enjoyable whilst it played, but left nothing much behind.

I am not expecting all action and/or entirely original plots to carry me along all of the time. There are bound to be a few turkey's to pad out the good ones. This one was closer to turkey than most of the rest.

Still there is always Odo playing a gravel voiced, laid back starring role. Just like Odo on DS9

Rene Auberjonois

It was good to see Rene again. It seems I can't escape him these days! I just watched "The Patriot" and he was in that as the Reverend. I saw a Stargate SG-1 episode with him in last year. Now he's in Enterprise! That guy sure keeps busy!:D
