Francesca Buller: character actor extraordinaire!

Hopefully this will prompt some discussion about Fran and her awesome acting abilities. She was at the Burbank convention in 2001, so here's a pic of that. I never knew what she looked like until this event, so here you go:

Weeellll, Chilly, Fran is Ben's wife, number one, and also one of the most versitile guesties on Farscape.

In season one, she played M'Lee, the calcium-craving alien who begged for help from Moya's crew as they huddled in the cold and silence trying to avoid Scorpy (Bone to be Wild).

Hopefully, you've seen that eppy, 'cause to understand Fran's range, you need to keep that voice and character in your head, then picture ro-Na from the Look at the Princess trilogy. She was the little green servant who saved John and Princess Katralla when they were attacked by that floating, smoking silver ball. Her voice work in those eppys was just brillant.

Then, to really impress us, Fran played Raxil in Scratch N' Sniff, the woman who conned John and D'Argo into breaking her into Heska F'Tor's compound during "the auction."

Her use of accents alone is remarkable, but she really put a lot into each of these characters, making them all quite memorable. I know I'll never forget those little mannerisms and quiet lines that just really made the characters real. I'm sure Ben's quite proud of her.

Sure she betrayed John to Scorpy, but before John knew that, she led him and Katralla out of the room and "saved" them from whatever poisonous gas was issuing from that floating ball-o-death.

Doubt me not, for I AM the Farscape Princess.

I was just saying that's how it appeared to John, and us, until we all realized that she was Scorpy's b*tch. I was trying not to be too spoilery (that's a word, right?) about it. I don't think everyone on this board's seen all of season two. Too bad, too, since it was my favorite season so far. Shippiest, too. :naughty:

We now can add another to the list. in Bringning Home the Beacon and We're Screwed pt 2 she has taken on the part of a Scarren Princess.

Did you hear that exchange between John and Aeryn in We're So Screwed part 3? When Aeryn kept placing herself between John and Akhna? Knowing it was Fran in that Scarran costume makes that exchange so much more... fun!

*After Akhna leaves the room*
John-- "Thanks. She scares me."
Aeryn-- *pauses* "It's the hat."



That just killed me, but as soon as I realized that it was Ben's wife under that hat, I fell down laughing! Vive Fran!
