40% of the respondents either won't watch or aren't sure. If I were one of TPTB I'd be concerned.
Do they really think that adding a guy whose only claim to fame is a teen sitcom cancelled 9 years ago is going to draw many viewers to the 6th season of a science fiction show in 2002?
MS is gone and apparently RDA is only signed for 15 eps next season. Considering that Teal'c has been wallpaper for 2 seasons, what does that leave? Sam and Corky save the universe?
I don't pretend to be an expert on business. But why would you take the risk of alienating a significant portion of your current fan base on the unfounded assumption that you can make up the difference by adding some teen-idol hasbeen?
It's not just MS leaving, it's the change in premise from exploration to second rate X-files plot ripoffs, Jack going from strong, intelligent leader to bad tempered idiot, and every third episode focused on Sam's lovelife. The show has gone downhill, and I for one, am undecided as to whether I'll continue watching. I'll check out the first episode, but if the quality has slipped too much, forget it.

A fatal flaw in SF, has always been the idea by producers of the shows that their audience is solely kids and not too bright ones at that. Science Fiction, done correctly, is the broadest spectrum of humanity played against a universal backdrop. I sure wish they'd stop underselling my ability to enjoy these shows....I hate it when they get "stupid".
It's obvious that TPTB completely misread their audience. I have to admit I'm one of the angry fans who feels insulted by the changes, and obviously, I'm not alone. It's not so much that one actor left, it's the contempt for the audience. That we won't notice the difference if the interesting, complex Daniel is replaced by a "hunk". The attitude seems to be "they're just women, give them a good looking guy and they'll stop complaining".
There's also a sense of "who cares about good writing and coming up with original plots, just copy other movies and TV shows, the idiots will lap it up". (Examples: Fail Safe, a.k.a. Starmageddon. Desperate Measures - what happened? Did they find an old X-Files script in a file drawer and decide to use that instead of paying someone to write an actual Stargate script?)
As for pandering to the "7 of 9 demographic", enough has been said about Tok'ra Ho already.
