Beta/alpha gates

Has anyone else noticed a discrepany on SG-1 with the gates.

In Nemesis the alpha gate was destroyed along with the Beliskner so from that episode onward they had to use the Beta gate at the SGC. If I remember correctly the Beta gate had a different glyph for earth as the 2 gates couldn't use the same one. Why then in season 4 and 5 do we see the original earth glyph on the gate?

also remeber that the Russians had the alpha gate, they found it in the ocean... then they had to shut down there facility... so i'm assuming that the SGC got the alpha gate back.

I couldn't remember how the russians got their gate but what I found was that when they were using theirs the earth glyph on the Beta gate at the SGC was still the one from the alpha gate.

I don't think we were meant to notice that or the fact that the DHD aint got a full 39 buttons for that matter

They only made 2 gates and I'm sure altering them would have been viewed as not worth the cost

If there's one thing Wormhole Extreme showed it's that they know they do bloopers but neccesity of costs and good story telling oft requires not worrying about little details.

And it gives us lot a chance to flood message boards and fill chat rooms to discuss the bloopers to death, lol.

Which then has a possitive feedback to the show coz it adds interest to the fans and the best of sci-fi's and TV in general oft listen to the fans in regards to their opinions and the bloopers they spot to help them selves improve the show and come up with even better scripts

Bridget McGuire explained the DHD at Gatecon lat year.... It seems that when they were designing the DHD, they laid out the glyphs, and they just didn't look right... So they removed one, and they fit perfectly.

Her comment... "We thought nobody would notice... Boy, were we wrong"

Fans can sometimes be the biggest critics :naughty: ....in a good way though .

When making any TV/film, budget constraints are likely to always be the biggest factor, with time-scale and artistic appearance coming in at some point. Eventually during production there will be a stage of "that will have to do".

Us fans have all the time in the world and can watch over and over, so are bound to eventually spot all their little omissions, bloopers and down right bad choices, which to them seemed small, but to us... :evil:

Of course, technically, the DHD thing means that manual or Sam's computer dialling can actually get us to more planets than "the Ancients" (read art department) actually intended...

Ah - interesting point. My Excellency :blush: was actually aiming at Mr Gatecon, Sir. BUT, in retrospect, I would be asking moderator of THIS subject ("AusGate's Stargate Command") to move the thread into the very top Stargate subject "Technical", presumably wherein Rowan is the mod.

Would probably needs Padders himself to do that kind of magic...
