The SG1 Collective Fan Site

A lot has been said by the media recently in the name of fandom. There
have been articles in magazines both paper and online, and letters printed
from
fans all around the world. Do they tell the full story? Do they tell your
story?

Several of us got together and would now like to present everyone with a
chance to tell their story their way, in their own words. Please take a
moment to visit The SG1 Collective Fan at:

http://www.woolfden.net/sg1collective

Read what others are saying, and add your own voice to theirs.

There are many sides to the issues that have plagued the SG1 fandom. Even
those who are on the same side may not agree completely with each other. To
address all the sides, all the issues, and all the differing viewpoints we
offer you a place to share your thoughts and to listen to the thoughts of
others.

some people are afraid that we are censoring letters. we're not, honestly. the only editing that is being done is to correct grammar, translate net lingo (TPTB is spelled out as either the powers that be or Stargate production staff) and we're working with the authors to tone down inflamatory language

if you want to say, well, this was a nice place until group a and group b started sniping at each other

all we're doing is suggesting that it be changed to 'well this used to be a nice place until two groups started sniping at each other'

the intent is still the same, but the tone is less inflammatory

and nothing is being posted without the author's consent. we're not editing and posting but editing, sending back to the author for his/her approval, then posting if they consent to it.

the only reason we're editing...there have been enough flame wars since sept, do we really need more?

the intent of the site is for people to express their views
