At a convention in Seattle Dominic Keating said that the Enterprise will be attacked by a "white squid- like creature" in the episode. Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) and Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker) hung from harnesses for hours wrapped up in a "white gushy thing" while the sequence was filmed.

The Enterprise crew encounter a race called the Kreetassens, and unwittingly insult the aliens. When the Enterprise pulls away from the Kreetassen ship, an alien lifeform makes it to the Enterprise and nests in one of its cargo bays. It snatches several crew members with its big octopus-like tentacles, including Archer and Tucker, and begins to cocoon and integrate the Enterprise crewmen with itself.

Roxann Dawson: "I really have to take my hat off to Scott [Bakula] and Connor [Trinneer] who spent days suspended in harnesses covered in slime without a single complaint. They were somehow able to maintain their sense of humour under extreme circumstances. [...] This episode was difficult, challenging and... well, at times I thought it was almost impossible. We had to create an alien organism which grows and takes over cargo bay, ensnaring some of the crew in its web. How do you create such a creature, make it believable and make it scary?" (March 07, 2002 - TrekToday)

When the crew inadvertently insult the aliens, a lifeform from the Kreetassen ship boards the Enterprise and nests in one of its cargo bays. Rumoured to feature Malcolm Reed inventing the first energy "force field." (March 13, 2002 - TrekToday)

Braga and Berman to study Latin...

StarTrek.com has reported that the upcoming Enterprise episode 'Vox Solis' has been renamed 'Vox Sola'. The previous title meant 'Voice of the Sun', and the new title means 'A Single Voice' in Latin.

Rick Berman and Brannon Braga revealed to Dave @ ASciFi.Com that they skipped Latin lessons at school to play pinball and table football in the local Mall. "I never saw much use for some old Roman language," said Berman. "All I remember is that 'Sinister' means left-handed," said Braga. They promised to pay more attention in class in the future.

Dave been getting emails from Bergman ??? hey do tell all..

Notes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rumoured to feature the Enterprise being sent to the planet Mazar to pick up a Vulcan ambassador expelled for misconduct. (February 20, 2002 - TrekToday)

The Vulcan ambassador is on a special mission and unable to tell Archer exactly what is going on. When trying to reach the Vulcan rendez-vous point, the Enterprise has to fight its way through the Mazarite equivalent of the mafia, during which time Archer will push the ship to Warp 5 for the first time ever. (March 13, 2002 - TrekToday)

Scott Bakula on Fionnula Flanagan: "She just kicks it. She's an ambassador, and she is like Indira Gandhi. She is incredible. She has this whole thing with T'Pol and me. It's a really good episode." (April 17, 2002 - TrekToday)

Interesting episode but not one of my favorites. I did like the part when Malcom improves on the force field technology. Does this mean that they'll get a force field for the ship soon? Don't Vulcan's have force fields? Even if they do their not willing to share are they.
:blpaw:

watching this tonight... supposed to one of the best so far

watched this yesterday --

eh - wasn't terribly impressed - they spent a great deal of time panning the cameras around the big 'squid-like thing' -

however, the bits w/ Hoshi and T'Pol working together and the stuff w/ Malcolm working on the forceshield were nice -

i like the part where Mayweather is trying to talk Malcolm into going to see the movie -- Mayweather tells Malcolm that the movie is gonna have ppl blowin' stuff up, and Malcolm agrees to go -- ;)

Actually - Mayweather did very well as the 'only man on the bridge' for the bit where he had to apologize to the aliens for offending them -- go Mayweather!

I agree Mayweather did pretty well - he doesn't seem to have really been used much in the episodes I have seen so far, so it was nice to see him shine!

yeah - I think I'm gonna have to insert my 'underused character rant' in here too --

I love character development and backstory - on everything! So, tell us what Reed does in his time off - does he read about weaponry? or does he have some secret passion that the crew doesn't know of? Trip - well, we know a bit more about him, but we have some things to learn. Mayweather - he gets left out of everything. Hoshi - has there even been a story about her?

This episode was good - really - I just like to see the 'minor' characters given a chance to prove they need to be around.

 H2, wil there ever be enough backstory for underused characters to satisfy you? I doubt it, but we can always dream ;)

I think Hoshi has had a great deal more development that Mayweather - I ahve only seen about half the eps of this series, so maybe I have been lucky, but I seem to know an awful lot more about her and her background, than I do about Mayweather or Malcolm.

Yet another alien-esque episode. Anyone think "Alien" is Brannon Braga's favourite film?

BTW "The Wages of Fear" (Mayweather to Reed: "No, you'll like it; things blow up!") is an excellent film. IMHO one of the best films ever made. ("...seems awfully long for a movie about four men in a truck") LOL

Reed is a genius, wasted on Enterprise; this week he invents the first forcefield. Will he invent the replicator next week?

I guess we will never see any Kreetassin restaurants then!

yeah - Reed seems to have a lot of talent - in science and weaponry - hasn't he modified the phase pistols? he's kinda like the Star Trek version of MacGyver - he's gotta come up with stuff so they can get through these 'problems' -

and to answer your question Tabitha - probably not -

the 'little guys' always get left out -

EXCEPT! in fanfic! WOOHOO!!!!

okay - back to Enterprise ---

I didn't like Mayweather very much until I read one of the ENT books. Now that I know some more about him he's become a lot more interesting. I agree about the background thing, they seem to focus on Hoshi more than any of the other crew on the bridge.

sorry was not impressed at all... very vey weak..
