We keep talking about Michael Shanks leaving 'Stargate S.G.-1' but wouldn't it be more accurate to say 'Stargate S.G.-1' left Michael Shanks?

Daniel Jackson was still an archaeologist/linguist, still wanting to travel through the Stargate to other worlds, to get into trouble with the rest of the team and to make his academic contribution to hauling their asses out of the fire.

Yes, there's room for the odd spaceship/terrestrial/military conspiracy adventure once in a while by way of a change, but where's the point in calling the programme 'Stargate S.G.-1', if you only use the Stargate now and again?

Might just as well pack up the Stargate and send it to the storage vaults in Area 51, marked 'surplus to requirements.'

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

P.S. Please note, no reference there to gorgeous blue ey—

Oops  ;)

Yeah in a way I have to agree...Im still hoping that season six will be different and they will use the stargate more...either that or like you say we might as well see it in area 51..:(

MS

All we can do is hang out and wait. Since we know that there's one DJ episode in the can [Abyss], we can but hope they'll be more and the movie besides.

Rowan:rolleyes:

I know we need be supportive of MS leaving for his "dreams" and self-worth and all, but the writers tried to let him have episodes. "The Curse" even went to the extreme of plunking Jack at his lake totally out of the picture. I think the shows producers got tired trying to make a stable middle ground, got rebuffed and people started gettng cranky. On both sides, if the new rumors hinting at jelousy of fandom pan out as true.

Talk of how long MS was going to be gone sure got shorter since Sept 22, 2001. I think MS has a good idea how popular he is and how large his fanbase is. However, I don't think he's all that bright in the long run. Sorry, to me he's getting shallower every minute. I get to liking the character he plays a whole lot more than MS. He don't have the principal to stay away when told he's not necessary at the moment. Not a lot of smarts at all to leave and then feel so scared they'd forget him to come back in episode six? MS needs Stargate more than he thought. Staring at the walls after five years of endless work can play with your brain if you don't have other stuff to think about.

It's very strange that the members of the cast who '"hide" from the limelight and the Internet may be bit in the ass by their desire for privacy, while MS goes out to soak up the admiration of his physical self. But only in select venues; that didn't help his case in my eyes what so ever. However, I myself became a bigger fan of TR and AT and JRB because they came out to the "official" North American con I attended. But, I think a star dosen't have to get a big ego while being accessable and liked in a good way by fans.

I was only ever really a Daniel fan and didn't know or want to know much about MS, so when the chance came for me ot go to SG4 convention and see the guy I thought well why not.
After meeting him a few times which I was really lucky and did get to see him face to face a few time he came across as a really nice and caring guy. I went to that con as a Danny fan and came back a MS fan.
He was nice to all of the people there that weekend, even when he was feeling unwell he carried on (as did AT)
After seeing a music video a fan did with clips of him leaving the show palyed with the music What If by Kate Winslet he cried along with us fans.
He talk a little about his leaving and seemed a little upset and very honest about his feelings and why he left and the fact that eh would love to do a few episodes and a film if the script was right.
And lets hope that he will in fact go to other conventions and of course he is going to do the conventions in the UK and Europe first.. doing these first at least he gets to see a bit of the countries without having to pay for it himself...maybe he is not that stupid!

:D

MS

Cyn, we have very different opinions of the man, but I'll let it go at that. That's the nice thing about this board.. we can all have them and still carry on discussions. There are a lot of places to check stuff out for refferences, etc.

For the record: Michael wasn't able to make GateCon last year due to personal commitments, the same as Chris. We'd hoped, but just couldn't happen. Some things like family, etc. come first.

"Abyss" is in the can and he's currently setting up to film his part in a movie being shot in India. After that, he's considering moving to LA [as the Vancouver 'Acting Triangle' doesn't offer a lot of moving around]. That's the current place for tv/movie jobs. New York for theater. There are discussions of other possible episodes being written as we speak and the movie is still hanging on the horizon, but no deffinates from MGM.

Linguistically, no, cos the way I see it, the SG doesn't move, but MS just doesn't come to the set anymore. :D But I suspect that's not what you mean. :p

LOL funny all the same!! ;)

Well, it did occur to me to point out that S.G. -1 isn't actually an object but a team of people - at least, it used to be - about three seasons ago... :)

Though that's hardly a flame, just a bright spark ;) Like me :D
