Neo, please feel free to re-order these episode numbers. You have it as 1.24, but there is another 1.24, and I'm confused!

Any info on the plot, apart from the appearence of real USS Enterprise sailors as extras?

Info is starting to come through as we speak...

I have changed the episode number to 24 as they have moved a few episodes around a bit..

Features appearances by real-life U.S.S. Enterprise sailors Aviation Electronic Technician First Class Robert Pickering, Aviation Electrician's Mate Second Class Timothy Whittington and Personnelman Third Class Sara Elizabeth Pizzo. (March 13, 2002 - TrekToday)

Clancy Brown, best known for roles in 'Highlander' and 'Starship Troopers,' will appear as "a charismatic alien leader" called Zobral. (March 24, 2002 - TrekToday)

Scott Bakula has revealed that 'Desert Crossing,' which will air in a double bill on May 8, and as one would expect from the title, sees the Enterprise crew out on the sand dunes. "We're in desert gear," Bakula said. "We went to a real desert. We had a ball, but it was crazy. There's a desert in Southern California, right near Mexico. It looks like the Sahara. It's unbelievable. It was great."

When Archer and Trip are invited to a desert-like planet by an alien leader after they help fix his ship, they discover he is a terrorist who has lured them onto his planet under false pretenses.

u reckon trip will get some work done...

Hmmm this episode was an interesting one - especially considering recent events in the Middle East.

Yet more discussion of the need for a prime directive - and will the poor crew ever get to Raisa?
The more I watch this show, the more I am liking trip, I thought Mr Trineer's acting was pretty good this ep - not too hysterical consideing he was supposed to be dying from Heat exhaustion/sunstroke.

The game they played reminded me of a cross between the vollyeball in Top Gun and Futuresport/Rollerball.

Good storyline... very close the the recent desert situation but well written and delivered...

Poor trip will he ever be able to cope.... he always seems to get the bad luck..

You had to look hard to see the sailors -- in the back of Engineering, hiding somewhere along the coridoors, etc.

As well as being Kurgan in 'Highlander', Clancy Brown was also in 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension', 'Dead Man Walking' and was Danziger in 'Earth 2'.

The intra-series continuity in the episode is good, as it shows the consequences of Archer's actions in "Detained", and continues their attempts to reach Risa in "Two Nights and Two Days". Star trek should always be like this.

Zobral has heard stories about the exploits of the Enterprise, and he thinks that Archer is a great military leader who freed thousands of prisoners against great odds. Could this be a dig at the way internet rumours are spread?

What was that Suliban artifact that Archer was given? Looked weird!

Enterprise loses it's first ShuttlePod!! They leave 'Pod One' behind.

More Proto-Prime Directive building here:

T'Pol: "Contacting new worlds always involves unexpected risks, the High Command has very specific protocols involving planetary conflicts. Eventually, Captain Archer will have to develop some directives of his own."

T'Pol: "What you told him was correct. Decisions to get involved in conflicts on other worlds should be left to Governments, not Starship Captains."

It was news from the net... but you could see then if u look hard enough... and have a massive magnifying glass.. LOL

I'm sorry to cast a negative here.

The desert crossing scene left me with more of De-Ja-Vue after Shuttle Pod 1 and Strange New World. Should we be putting up the Harry Kim patent rubber bumpers and gurt sign saying 'Danger Area'?

Trip acts quite a bit different here compared to Shuttle Pod 1. Surely that is not just because the Captain is with him insted of Reed?

Also the situation with Zobral, the friendly local freedom fighting terrorist fanatic cleared itself up rather too easily. Making it reminiscent of so many other miraculous Trek solutions.

BTW The game they were playing catching a ball in a net at the end of a stick was very like La'crose (used to be played by the girls when I was at school and nearly as violent;)).
